About Roche - Near Patient Care Operations

Doing now what patients need next. The customer area Near Patient Care (NPC) unites Roche’s Point of Care and Diabetes Care portfolios. Our ambition is to improve disease management by enabling critical answers and personalized care, closer to the people we serve. With our passion we bring testing closer to patients and empower people to better monitor their own health and help healthcare professionals make faster, more confident decisions closer to the patient. Within NPC Operations, we are globally accountable for the end-to-end production of solutions for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), blood glucose monitoring (BGM), and insulin delivery (IDS), as well as Point-of-Care (POC) products. The most relevant internal manufacturing sites are Mannheim in Germany and Indianapolis in the USA.

As Manufacturing Science and Technology in NPC Operations, we bridge the gap between development and manufacturing. With around 200 colleagues across Mannheim, Indianapolis, and Rotkreuz, we lead technology strategy, product design industrialization, and collaboration with external partners throughout the product lifecycle. As a project-based organization, we enable scalable product designs ready for mass production, ensure robust processes and equipment for excellent yields, and ensure scalable QC processes. Partnering with external networks, we secure competitive manufacturing costs and reliable production. The Opportunity

As a Senior Project Lead in our Project Delivery Team in MSAT, you will assume the end-to-end responsibility for delivering highly complex cross-functional projects in NPC Operations, such as technology transfers or product care projects. These projects are typically large, cross-functional global projects across NPC Operations including investments of >20mio €. The teams work in very close conjunction with R&D, Quality, and site functions.  

You take over the functional matrix leadership of large teams consisting of various members such as technical specialists as well as sub-teams and will ensure smooth and efficient project delivery within NPC Operations and beyond. 

You are a project management professional and ensure an end-to-end ownership mindset in your project team, ensuring projects are considered complete only when their intended business outcomes are fully realized.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• You lead one or multiple complex and cross-functional projects, maintaining end-to-end accountability to final implementation for the project delivery within NPC Operations.

• You assume functional responsibility for large, multi-level teams of specialists and leaders, ensuring high performance within your area of responsibility.

• You ensure the adherence to core project goals, such as budget, timeline and outcome.

• You drive independent problem-solving and strategic decision-making to adapt project plans to changing requirements while aligning with overarching goals.

• You collaborate closely with the other functions within MSAT and NPC Operations, as well as Research & Development and external partners. 

• You coordinate diverse stakeholders across multiple functions and hierarchical levels, including external partners, to ensure seamless information flow and project alignment.

 Who you are

•  You hold a Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent engineering degree in a technical, scientific, or business discipline.

• You bring at least 7+ years of professional experience in successfully leading complex, large-scale, and international investment projects (>20mio € budget) from end to end, ideally in the pharmaceutical or diagnostics industry.

• You possess profound expertise in agile, classic, and hybrid project management approaches, combined with a strong understanding of various execution and contracting models and a recognized certification in project management e.g PMI or IPMA and Scrum Alliance, etc.

• You bring a sound understanding of manufacturing success factors, particularly within a GMP environment, alongside a deep interest in the NPC product portfolio.

• You have a proven leadership  track record of leading large, cross-functional teams with the ability to motivate and steer both technical specialists and fellow leaders. 

• You actively share knowledge, inspire, guide, and coach others to contribute to company success.

• You are business-fluent in English and German is a plus. You are capable of navigating all hierarchical stakeholder levels and possess a talent for communicating and confidently presenting complex topics in a clear and understandable manner.

• You have worked in design transfer projects and are experienced in managing the interface between R&D, Operations and external partners. You possess strategies to manage dynamic and complex projects with a high uncertainty. 

• for final assembly: You bring experience in setting up global manufacturing networks, navigating multi-partner contract landscapes (CMOs, equipment & component sub-suppliers), and steering technical changes across the entire value chain.
