Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving full lifecycle software development with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. You will collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with business priorities, mentor engineering talent, and promote engineering excellence through rigorous design reviews and data-driven decision making. Our team enhances transportation execution within the supply chain by enabling efficient load creation, tendering, and automation for Fleet and third-party carriers. We develop scalable, reliable software solutions that improve operational efficiency and support omnichannel growth. What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement through data-driven practices and innovation.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong software development skills across the full lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML integration using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
- Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply software design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions to ensure quality and sustainability.
- Proficient in data-driven decision making, problem solving, debugging, and requirements analysis.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
