What You'll Do
- Oversee daily operations for a quality auditors working across multiple shifts, reviewing open issues and directing follow-up based on inspection and measurement data.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality complaints, acknowledging issues, opening investigations, and personally verifying defects on the production line.
- Lead root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, fishbone/Ishikawa) with cross-functional teams and drive corrective and preventive actions through to closure.
- Perform statistical review of quality measurement data, including process capability studies and Gauge R&R, to identify and correct process issues.
- Weigh in on release/hold decisions for affected product in collaboration with site leadership, and communicate outcomes directly to customers.
- Support internal, third-party, and supplier audits, and help maintain the site's quality management system documentation.
- Conduct routine quality inspections across the facility.
- Travel occasionally to customer or supplier sites to verify issues firsthand.
- Mentor and develop quality auditors/technicians, and step in to cover shifts when needed to keep production moving.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years leadership experience, coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to quality auditors and technicians.
- 5+ years of overall Quality Assurance experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience personally leading root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, and/or fishbone), corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong working knowledge of statistical process control, process capability analysis, and gauge R&R.
- Comfortable spending real time on the production floor, working directly with operators, auditors, and lab personnel.
- Experience communicating directly with customers on quality issues, comfortable being a primary point of contact.
- A proactive, resourceful approach to problem-solving. Genuine curiosity and a willingness to actively dig into issues.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer or supplier locations when a situation calls for it.
- A college degree with relevant coursework is preferred.
- Relevant quality certifications (ISO Internal Auditor or similar) are a plus.
