A leading shared services property management company is seeking an experienced Associate, Residential Asset Management to join its team in New York. This organization oversees an a multifamily portfolio, delivering best-in-class management and administrative support to a select client roster.

About the Role
The Associate will serve as a trusted partner to leadership, Property Management, and Accounting, contributing meaningfully to decision-making and process improvement across the portfolio. This role helps oversee the work of two analysts, providing guidance and quality control rather than direct day-to-day management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Support the preparation of detailed annual budgets, monthly/quarterly property and portfolio reporting, financial forecasts, capital plans, and variance analyses.
- Develop and maintain customized financial and operational reports supporting corporate initiatives, including revenue optimization, cost management, and utility consumption tracking.
- Review analyst reports for accuracy, ensuring reports clearly communicate key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Portfolio & Market Analysis
- Monitor leasing, pricing, occupancy, operating expenses, and capital expenditures across the portfolio.
- Research economic, demographic, and industry trends; benchmark against competitors; and deliver actionable insights that inform portfolio decisions.
Capital Projects & Asset Oversight
- Track capital projects and renovations, ensuring alignment with approved scope, timing, and return expectations.
- Deliver clear, concise asset reporting to the Asset Manager on key operating metrics, financial performance, and project milestones.
Team Support & Process Improvement
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts.
- Support system enhancements, process improvements, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required (Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred).
- Must currently be working in an asset management function — this role is not suited for candidates coming from property management or operations.
- 3+ years of experience in real estate asset management; multifamily experience strongly preferred.
- Ideal candidates are either a senior analyst with 3+ years of asset management experience ready to step up, or a current Associate.
- Solid understanding of property-level financial statements, including P&L analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including building and maintaining budgets and financial models, with command of complex formulas and the ability to translate analysis into clear strategy.
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting systems preferred.
- Strong business acumen, analytical mindset, and ability to balance detail with big-picture thinking.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, present, and partner effectively with stakeholders at every level.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- High level of accountability for deliverables, paired with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
