We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team in Burnsville, MN as a Mechanical Design Engineer. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead mechanical design and development for advanced power distribution and conversion products, guiding projects from concept through production while ensuring safety, manufacturability, compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration. 

• Lead mechanical design across the full product lifecycle
• Translate system requirements into robust mechanical solutions
• Develop and optimize enclosure designs for power distribution systems
• Prototype, validate, and support new and existing product lines
• Drive design standards, best practices, and compliance with industry codes
• Conduct root‑cause investigations and resolve complex technical issues
• Mentor engineers, technicians, fabrication, and assembly teams
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
• Contribute to projects that impact communities in Savage, Apple Valley, Bloomington, Eagan, Lakeville, and Prior Lake, and Brooklyn Park and the greater Minneapolis metro
• Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering 
• 5+ years of mechanical product design experience
• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks preferred
• Experience designing switchgear or switchboard products to UL standards
• Ability to define specifications for seismic, environmental, and thermal applications
• Sheet metal fabrication and sheet metal design experience
• Experience creating detailed technical documentation for manufacturing and testing
• Ability to design for safe and effective manufacturing practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• NFPA 70E certification (preferred)
• Experience with UL508, UL1008, UL9540, or similar standards
• Experience with ERP, PLM, or engineering vault systems
• Experience with enclosure, cabinet, or racking design
• Experience with structural, thermal, or seismic analysis
• HVAC design experience
• Ability to travel up to 20% within North America
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills

ESTIMATED PAY RANGE

Engineer I: $34.62–$40.38/hour

Engineer II: $38.46–$44.23/hour

Engineer III: $43.27–$49.04/hour

Senior Engineer: $46.63–$53.85/hour

Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
