The Senior Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software solutions for Hartford Fire Insurance Company, contributing to high-impact projects that enhance our core insurance operations.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure software applications across the full software development lifecycle.
* Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and other engineering teams to define technical requirements, scope projects, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
* Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices in software development, including design patterns, clean code, and testing methodologies.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
* Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, identifying opportunities for system improvements, modernization, and innovation.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, API documentation, and deployment guides.
* Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their potential applicability to Hartford's technology landscape.
* Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, actively contributing to team success.
* Ensure adherence to security standards, compliance regulations, and internal company policies throughout the development process.

Job Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on enterprise-level applications.
* Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
* Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
* Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and microservices architecture.
* Solid understanding of front-end technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and automated testing frameworks.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
* Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry is highly desirable.
