Job Description
The Director of Retail Operations - Process Improvement is responsible for designing, improving, and scaling operational processes that enable Rally House stores to execute consistently and efficiently. This leader partners across Operations, Merchandising, Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Store Design, and Marketing to identify opportunities, simplify work, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve the Team Member and Guest experience. This role serves as the operational architect for the business—evaluating how work gets done, identifying opportunities to improve execution, and implementing sustainable solutions that support profitable growth.
Responsibilities
Operational Process Improvement
- Evaluate existing store and field processes to identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, and increased effectiveness
- Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives from concept through implementation
- Eliminate unnecessary complexity while improving execution, compliance, and the Team Member experience
- Develop scalable operational standards that support company growth
- Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies where appropriate
Operational Excellence
- Continuously assess operational performance through field observations, data analysis, and feedback from stores
- Identify root causes of operational challenges and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Develop operating procedures that improve consistency across all locations
- Establish governance around operational standards and process ownership
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the operational liaison across Corporate departments to ensure initiatives are executable in stores
- Facilitate collaboration between Operations, Merchandising, IT, HR, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and Store Design
- Evaluate new programs and initiatives through the lens of operational impact before rollout
- Ensure operational readiness for new initiatives
Project Leadership
- Lead retail operational projects from planning through execution
- Develop implementation plans, timelines, communication strategies, and success metrics
- Monitor project performance and adjust plans as necessary
- Coordinate pilot programs and enterprise rollouts
Technology & Systems
- Partner with IT to identify opportunities for automation and technology-enabled improvements
- Evaluate operational technology solutions that improve productivity and execution
- Translate operational requirements into business needs for system enhancements
- Support testing and implementation of new operational systems
Field Partnership
- Regularly visit stores to observe operations firsthand and validate opportunities
- Gather feedback from Team Members, District Managers, and Regional Directors
- Ensure improvements reduce workload and improve execution rather than create unnecessary complexity
- Build strong credibility as an advocate for field operations
Performance Measurement
- Develop KPIs to measure operational effectiveness
- Utilize reporting and analytics to identify trends and opportunities
- Monitor adoption of new processes and recommend corrective actions when necessary
- Present operational insights and recommendations to senior leadership

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of progressive retail operations experience
- 3+ years leading enterprise-level operational improvement initiatives
- Experience in multi-unit retail required
- Experience leading cross-functional projects in a high-growth organization preferred
- Experience implementing operational technology solutions preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment
- Able to clearly view and read information on a computer screen
