Program Supervisor – River Rocks - Leadership ProgramReporting to the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Program Supervisor – River Rocks - Leadership Program is responsible for planning and executing specialized programming, incorporating Participant Partnerships, Lifeskills, and Youth Advocacy. Supervisor is also accountable for providing on-site staff mentorship and training to the program leaders.
Job Duties Include
Program Supervisor – River Rocks
- Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with registered participants.
- Assists with oversight, planning, organization and leadership of all River Rocks activities, including off-site trips.
- Supports staff team members in the facilitation of general daily programming and/or events.
- Employs varied methods of consultation to determine areas of participant interest and programming needs.
- Monitors space, provide direction, and addresses any issues surrounding: team members’ performance, volunteer engagement, participant interactions and safety, programming, and equipment use.
- Works to build a culture of engagement and respect, creating a sense of pride and connection within the River Rocks Program.
- Enforces behaviour criteria amongst participants.
- Maintains the tidiness of the programming space, and manages care of equipment, maintaining accurate inventory.
- Takes appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems, emergencies as outlined in the Departmental Policies and Procedures.
- Responsible for administrative tasks necessary to support the Community Recreation Coordinator, including but not limited to: Distributing staff shift placements, incident reports, summary reports, damage reports, worker injury report, and communication logs.
Qualifications/Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the recreation field working Recreation programs with Children and/or Youth.
- Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs and youth services.
- HIGH FIVE – Quest 2 certification preferred
- Public relations skills and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership resource knowledge and programming skills.
- Excellent organization, time management and planning skills.
- Self-motivated, positive, confident and approachable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification (If hired, must be obtained by September 21, 2026).
- HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification (If hired, must be obtained by September 21, 2026).
- Willingness to obtain Behaviour Management Systems certification.
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Reference /Vulnerable Sector check that is current (completed in the last 6 months), upon being hired.
Nice to Have
- Food Handlers certificate is an asset
What is Offered to Staff
- Compensation: We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position.
- Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 10 hours per week. 5 hours of program time, per week and 2.5 hours on Mondays (MCC) and Wednesdays (ARC) for program implementation. The hours of program are Monday and Wednesday 3:45pm to 6:15pm, and various daytime office hours.
