Description

Scopely is looking for a Production Director, Live Operations to join our MONOPOLY GO! game team. This role can be based remotely in the UK or from our Barcelona hub on a hybrid basis.

MONOPOLY GO! is a global phenomenon and the biggest mobile game launch in history, captivating millions of players worldwide.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day—whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing, and innovating the games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

About the Role

As Production Director, Live Operations, you will own the operational health of MONOPOLY GO!'s live game execution. This role oversees the systems, teams, and operational practices that enable the game to ship reliably, perform consistently, and respond quickly to the needs of both players and developers.

You'll lead the production strategy across Live Operations, the LiveOps Calendar, Live Performance, and GameOps Tooling, ensuring the organization can execute thousands of live changes safely while continually improving speed, quality, and operational efficiency.

This is not a role that operates solely from the executive level. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable defining multi-year operational strategy as they are diving into release schedules, incidents, production bottlenecks, tooling workflows, and execution details. You'll know when to zoom out and shape the future of Live Operations—and when to roll up your sleeves to unblock a launch or improve a production workflow.

What You'll Do

Own Live Operations Excellence

  • Lead production across Live Operations, ensuring reliable execution of live events, promotions, game updates, and operational releases.
  • Own the operational health of the LiveOps organization, balancing execution quality, speed, reliability, scalability, and team effectiveness.
  • Ensure Live Operations consistently delivers outstanding player experiences while minimizing operational risk.

Lead the LiveOps Calendar

  • Own governance of the LiveOps Calendar, ensuring releases are well-planned, coordinated, prioritized, and executable.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, Economy Design, QA, Localization, CRM, Marketing, and Community teams.
  • Balance competing priorities while maintaining a sustainable release cadence.

Drive GameOps Tooling Strategy

  • Partner closely with Engineering and technical leadership to define the roadmap for Game Operations tooling.
  • Ensure internal tools improve operational efficiency, reliability, visibility, and automation across the organization.
  • Champion investments that reduce manual work, improve safety, and enable LiveOps teams to scale.

Be Deeply Engaged in Execution

  • Stay close enough to day-to-day execution to understand operational pain points firsthand.
  • Jump into complex launches, critical releases, production escalations, or live incidents when leadership is needed.
  • Review schedules, dependencies, workflows, and operational processes—not to micromanage, but to ensure execution quality and remove systemic obstacles.

Shape Organizational Strategy

  • Build long-term operational roadmaps aligned with the game's growth.
  • Drive capacity planning across Live Operations teams.
  • Improve governance, production frameworks, and planning methodologies.
  • Guide leadership through prioritization, investment decisions, and operational trade-offs.

Lead Through Influence

  • Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, and QA
  • Align diverse stakeholder groups around shared operational goals.
  • Influence without relying on organizational hierarchy.

Build High-Performing Teams

  • Mentor Production Managers, Producers, and operational leaders.
  • Raise the production maturity of the Live Operations organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, transparency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience leading Live Operations or Production within large-scale live service games.
  • Demonstrated success operating as a Director-level production leader across complex organizations.
  • Deep understanding of LiveOps execution, release management, operational planning, and live game operations.
  • Experience owning large operational calendars with frequent releases and multiple cross-functional dependencies.
  • Strong understanding of incident management, operational readiness, risk mitigation, and production governance.
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering teams on internal production tools and operational platforms.
  • Proven ability to improve production systems through automation, tooling, process improvements, and operational metrics.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically—able to define long-term vision while remaining deeply engaged in execution when needed.
  • Exceptional organizational leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Outstanding communication, diplomacy, conflict resolution, and change management abilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change and improving operational maturity across multiple teams.
  • Experience supporting games with millions of players and high-frequency live content delivery.

AI Capability & Readiness

We believe AI can meaningfully transform how Live Operations organizations execute at scale. In this role, you'll be expected to actively leverage AI-enabled tools to improve operational planning, scheduling, documentation, communication, incident response, production analytics, decision support, and workflow automation.

We value leaders who continually experiment with emerging AI technologies to reduce operational overhead, improve decision-making, increase release quality, and enable teams to move faster while maintaining exceptional standards of safety and execution.

Bonus Points

  • Experience leading Live Operations for a top-performing mobile free-to-play title.
  • Experience managing GameOps or LiveOps tooling organizations.
  • Experience building operational dashboards and KPI frameworks.
  • Experience with release governance, deployment pipelines, and operational automation.
  • Experience implementing large-scale production transformations across global organizations.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity platforms including Claude, Codex, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar technologies.
  • Experience leading globally distributed Live Operations teams across multiple time zones.
