Job Summary

AltairStrickland LLC was founded in 1976 as a mechanical contracting firm specializing in serving the petrochemical industry and is part of the EMCOR Industrial Services group of companies.

We are seeking a full-time Personnel & Workforce Lead to support capital projects, maintenance, turnarounds, and industrial construction opportunities from our Corporate office.

This position is eligible to participate in company-sponsored benefit programs designed to support your health, protection, and future. Eligible employees will also have access to Paid Time Off (PTO) upon hire and additional company-sponsored programs, including the Degree Assistance Program.

This role is responsible for overseeing, administering, and coordinating key functions of the Company’s Personnel Department, including the processing and assignment of field employees, workforce and crew scheduling, maintenance of personnel and HR records, and coordination of employee recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training. The position also handles confidential, sensitive, and proprietary Company and employee information while supporting the Company’s workforce and operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Company’s Personnel Department to support field operations and workforce requirements.
  • Coordinate the processing, scheduling, assignment, and mobilization of field employees based on project requirements, workforce needs, employee availability, qualifications, and other applicable considerations.
  • Work closely with Operations and project personnel to identify staffing requirements and assist with developing and maintaining appropriately staffed work crews.
  • Coordinate and assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and placement of field employees in accordance with Company practices and established requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and current employee personnel records, employment documentation, qualification information, and other HR-related records in accordance with Company procedures and applicable recordkeeping requirements.
  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure employee information, employment status changes, and other personnel-related transitions are communicated and processed accurately and timely.
  • Assist with workforce reporting, employee rosters, staffing information, personnel status reports, and other documentation necessary to support operational and management needs.
  • Monitor workforce availability and anticipated staffing requirements and communicate potential staffing shortages, surpluses, or workforce constraints to appropriate Operations and management personnel.
  • Assist with verifying that employees possess required qualifications, certifications, training, testing, and other applicable documentation prior to assignment or mobilization, as required.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with employees, applicants, management, clients, vendors and other internal or external stakeholders as appropriate to the position.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with operational teams and supporting departments to facilitate workforce and assist in resolving personnel-related matters.
  • Identify personnel or workforce issues requiring additional management or HR review and appropriately escalate matters involving employee relations, disciplinary concerns, policy interpretation, compliance, or other sensitive employment matters.
  • Exercise appropriate discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling employee personnel information, employment records, business information, and other confidential, sensitive or proprietary Company matters.
  • Support the establishment of departmental priorities and timely resolution of personnel and workforce matters in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and established practices, and support Company’s effort in maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance, coordination, and work direction to other staff members as applicable to ensure departmental responsibilities are completed accurately and timely.
  • Promote consistent application of established Personnel Department processes, procedures, documentation requirements, and workforce practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position and necessary to support the Company’s personnel and workforce operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in personnel administration, human resources, workforce staffing, or a related function is required; experience supporting construction, industrial, turnaround, maintenance, or similar field operations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple workforce requirements, employee assignments, and staffing priorities in a fast-paced and changing operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee recordkeeping, personnel administration, and workforce scheduling
  • General working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements, with the ability to appropriately recognize and escalate matters requiring additional HR or management review.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to changing workforce needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgment within established responsibilities, discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality when handling employee information, personnel records, and sensitive or proprietary Company matters.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field employees, applicants, Operations, management, clients, vendors, and supporting departments.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with operational and departmental teams to resolve personnel and workforce-related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, coordination, and work direction to other Personnel Department staff, as applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic HR, personnel, workforce management, or related business systems.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate verbally, use hands and fingers to operate computers and other office equipment, and perform routine administrative tasks.
  • Work hours may periodically extend beyond the employee’s normal schedule, including evenings or weekends, as necessary to meet operational requirements, deadlines, or workforce needs.
  • The position requires the ability to remain at a workstation and use a computer for extended periods, as well as periodically move throughout an office or other work location.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, or move office materials, files, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • The position requires regular review and processing of electronic and printed documents, personnel records, workforce information, reports, spreadsheets, and other business-related materials.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to travel to project sites, client facilities, Company offices, or other business locations and navigate typical office and industrial work environments.
  • When visiting field or industrial locations, the employee may be required to walk or stand for extended periods and navigate stairs, uneven walking surfaces, and other conditions commonly encountered at industrial facilities and project sites, as applicable to the visit.

Work Environment

The position is primarily performed indoors in a professional office environment. However, business needs may require travel to Company offices, client facilities, project sites, and other business locations, as well as attendance at off-site meetings or events.
