What You Will Achieve
As a Scientist, you will provide hands-on scientific and technical expertise supporting Pfizer's Sterile Injectables and Biotech Technology (SBT) portfolio. You will:
- Independently execute laboratory studies supporting commercial manufacturing, technology transfer, process characterisation, lifecycle management and development programmes.
- Generate, analyse and document experimental data to support technical and business objectives.
- Apply scientific knowledge to solve routine and moderately complex technical challenges.
- Support investigation of process, manufacturing and product quality issues through data generation and technical assessment.
- Contribute as an active member of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Maintain laboratory operations in accordance with Pfizer safety, quality and compliance requirements.
- Partner with senior scientists and technical leaders to advance programme objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and department.
- Support implementation of new laboratory technologies, digital tools and improved ways of working.
- Build technical expertise across Pfizer's SBT platforms.
How You Will Achieve It
Pfizer's SBT portfolio comprises multiple approaches for the creation of effective biotherapeutics.
This laboratory-based role is responsible for hands-on execution and delivery of experimental programmes supporting commercial products and development assets. The Scientist will execute laboratory studies, generate high-quality technical data and support development of manufacturing and process technologies. You will:
- Execute laboratory studies supporting process characterisation, technology transfer, process optimisation and lifecycle management activities.
- Perform experimental work safely and efficiently while meeting quality and compliance requirements.
- Generate, document and analyse experimental data using appropriate scientific and statistical tools.
- Prepare technical summaries, reports and presentations to communicate study outcomes.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause investigations associated with process performance and product quality.
- Collaborate with analytical, manufacturing, quality and technology colleagues to support programme delivery.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, materials and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Contribute to scientific discussions and technical problem-solving activities.
- Support the adoption of new technologies, automation solutions and digital tools.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain awareness of relevant scientific and technical developments within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Support inspection readiness and compliance activities as required.
Qualifications
- PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
OR
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline with 2+ years relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
TechnicalRequirements
- Foundational knowledge of biologics process development, technology transfer, manufacturing science or laboratory-based development activities.
- Experience executing laboratory studies and documenting experimental results.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: mammalian cell culture, downstream processing, biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, microbial systems, bioconjugation or RNA technologies.
- Strong scientific problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret experimental data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully within cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of laboratory safety, GMP principles and quality requirements.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a biopharmaceutical development or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with process characterisation, scale-down models or technology transfer activities.
- Exposure to data analytics, modelling tools or digital laboratory technologies.
- Working knowledge of statistical tools and experimental design concepts.
- Experience supporting deviation investigations or technical troubleshooting activities.
- Knowledge of commercial biologics manufacturing processes.
- Experience working across multiple technology platforms including cell culture, downstream processing, RNA technologies or bioconjugation.
