Location: Ankeny, IA (climate-controlled facility)
Pay: $25-$30/hr, with unlimited overtime available
Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Shifts Available

• 2nd shift: 2:00 PM-10:30 PM
• 3rd shift: 10:00 PM-6:30 AM
• Weekend days: 12-hour shifts, Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon, starting between 5-7 AM
• Weekend nights: 12-hour shifts, Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon, starting between 5-7 PM

Weekday start and end times are flexible. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

About the Role

Join a growing toolroom team that builds some of the most precise injection molds in the world. The tooling supports medical, electronics, optical, and other advanced technologies, with components measured in microns. You'll work with engineers, designers, and fellow toolmakers on new challenges and gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing processes. The company is adding shifts and hiring as many machinists as it can.

What You'll Do

• Build, modify, and maintain high-precision molds and tooling
• Machine complex mold components on a variety of toolroom equipment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM files, and technical documentation
• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot existing molds using precision measurement equipment
• Work with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to keep projects moving
• Identify ways to improve tooling performance, quality, and efficiency
• Lead project tasks when assigned
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High school coursework or GED required
• Two-year tool & die degree or four years of tooling or moldmaking experience preferred
• Experience with metal saws, mills, grinders, and lathes

Skills

• Working knowledge of Windows-based CAD software such as Mastercam, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
• Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and trigonometry
• Ability to read complex drawings and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
• Sound troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication in one-on-one and small group settings
• Willingness to attend training and occasional business travel
• Overtime as needed to meet toolroom demands

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand for long periods and handle very small parts or tweezers
• Good color and close vision, with the ability to use a microscope
• Lift or move up to 55 lbs
• Climate-controlled environment with low to moderate noise
• Possible contact with steel chips, grinding dust, EDM smoke, cutting oils, and coolants
• Safety glasses required
