As a Support Worker at The Hub in Katherine, you’ll work alongside the Homelessness and Case Management teams to provide practical support, service navigation and community engagement for individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. 

Using a strengthbased, traumainformed and culturally safe approach, you’ll build positive relationships, help people access services and appointments, support Hub activities and programs, and encourage participants to work towards their goals. Your presence and commitment will make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in the Katherine community. 

About the role 

This fulltime role provides practical support to people accessing The Hub, assists with service navigation, and contributes to the delivery of Hub activities and programs. You’ll work collaboratively with the Homelessness and Case Management teams, other Salvation Army programs and external service providers to ensure coordinated support and improved outcomes for participants. 

This is a permanent, fulltime position based in Katherine, NT, reporting to the Team Leader. Pay is in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award. 

How you will make an impact 

  • Assist and support clients accessing TSA and external support services 

  • Establish relationships that encourage selfdetermination, participation and improved wellbeing 

  • Build effective working relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders 

  • Maintain regular communication with all team members 

  • Support clients to actively engage in their case plans as directed 

  • Assist in the provision of meals, donations and material assistance 

  • Accurately update client records and input data in line with TSA standards, policy and procedure 

  • Be compliant with TSA policies and procedures and seek bestpractice standards for safe work environments 

  • Provide general reception and administrative support duties 

 

What you will bring 

  • Demonstrated experience working in homelessness services, crisis accommodation, outreach, or similar communitybased support environments. 

  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture 

  • Cert IV in Community Services or similar (desirable) 

  • Selfmotivation and a high level of initiative 

  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, with the ability to interact, network and build positive relationships 

  • Knowledge of WHS obligations and the ability to practice these in line with TSA policy, procedures and legislation 

  • Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language 

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office programs — including Word, Excel and Outlook 

  • Working with Children (Ochre Card)  

  • NT Driver’s Licence
