Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

TeraWave Electrical Systems spans solar power generation, energy storage, power conversion and distribution, avionics and payload power interfaces, high-voltage propulsion power, heaters, grounding/bonding, EMI/EMC, harnessing, data interfaces, fault management, and system test. These functions must close across LEO and MEO mission variants while supporting high-rate production and fleet operations.

As the dedicated Systems Engineer for Electrical Systems and EPS, you will own the technical thread from mission objectives through requirements, architecture, interfaces, budget integration, verification, and flight evidence. You will partner with electrical design leads and serve as the connective tissue among spacecraft bus, payload, propulsion, flight software, mission operations, and specialty engineering teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Own the Electrical Systems and EPS requirements baseline, architecture products, interface definition, technical-budget integration, verification strategy, and closure evidence.
• Derive, allocate, and manage verifiable electrical-system requirements, and maintain traceability among power and data block diagrams, equipment lists, operating modes, interfaces, analyses, schematics, and verification events.
• Interface with electrical power-budget owners for nominal, peak, transient, contingency, safe-mode, beginning-of-life, and end-of-life cases; reconcile assumptions among DRM, PEL/MEL, thermal loads, propulsion, payload duty cycles, and radiation degradation.
• Lead electrical architecture trades involving bus voltage, battery topology, solar-array sizing, PCDU functions, load switching, redundancy, cross-strapping, umbilicals.
• Lead requirements, interface, verification, and test-readiness reviews, and coordinate anomaly resolution with the responsible hardware and test teams.
• Create integrated verification plans and cross-reference matrices; support flatsat, hardware-in-the-loop, subsystem, spacecraft, environmental, and mission-scenario testing and drive discrepancies to closure.
• Manage electrical-system risks, decisions, assumptions, technical performance measures, configuration changes, and change-impact assessments across requirements, models, diagrams, ICDs, equipment lists, hardware definition, and test procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, electrical power systems, avionics integration, or complex high-reliability electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of EPS architectures, power electronics, batteries, solar arrays, protection/switching, harnessing, electrical interfaces, grounding/bonding, or EMI/EMC.
• Demonstrated experience writing and managing requirements, performing architecture trades, defining interfaces, and developing verification plans.
• Ability to interface with power-budget owners and review operating-mode analyses, block diagrams, interface documentation, and integrated test scenarios.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical closure in an environment with evolving architecture, aggressive schedules, and multiple stakeholders. 
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related field.
• Experience across the full spacecraft lifecycle from concept and requirements through design, qualification, flight integration, and operations.
• Experience with both low-voltage avionics and high-voltage/high-power spacecraft systems, including power quality, protection coordination, stability, and transients.
• Experience with large constellations, high-rate production, fleet operations, LEO/MEO mission design, or payload-rich communications spacecraft.
• Familiarity with JAMA/DOORS or equivalent requirements tools, electrical simulation, Python/MATLAB, Jira, Confluence, Windchill/PLM, and Databricks/SQL.
• Working knowledge of reliability/FDIR, radiation assurance, EEE parts, materials/processes, EMI/EMC, environmental test, and product assurance. 

 

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45 CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90 WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
