08Role Scope
The Data Quality Specialist is an individual contributor responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and product ready data across multiple datasets. The role goes beyond routine checks to perform deeper trend and pattern analysis, identifying systemic quality issues and recurring failure points. It contributes to the design and improvement of data quality processes, controls, and validation frameworks. The specialist supports cross dataset validations and works closely with data producers, data stewards, and partner teams to drive effective root cause analysis and remediation. By strengthening standards, improving detection, and enabling consistent execution, the role plays a critical part in enhancing data reliability and trust for downstream products, analytics, and operational use.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Operations Excellence
- Perform sampling, second‑level fact checks, product validations, and cross‑dataset trends and pattern analysis to identify data quality issues for multiple datasets.
- Applies data quality judgment in AI assisted environments, validating and reconciling outputs generated by hybrid human and agent workflows to ensure trust, explainability, and adherence to defined quality controls.
- Produce clear, actionable reports and dashboards outlining data quality scores, error rates, trends, and risks for stakeholder consumption and decision‑making.
- Identify, document, and escalate anomalies and gaps with appropriate context, supporting root‑cause analysis and downstream investigation.
- Execute timely, quality‑driven resolution of assigned data or client query jobs by following established SOPs, workflows, and SLA requirements.
- Accurately document attributes and changes in workflow systems, adhere to defined escalation paths, and support validation, testing, and remediation activities for fixes and enhancement
Process Excellence
- Proposes enhancements to validation rules, quality checks, and monitoring frameworks by analyzing anomalies, recurring issues, and defect patterns across datasets.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to Level 1 specialists on data quality methodologies, testing best practices, and analytical approaches.
- Maintains clear and structured documentation of checks, procedures, and insights to support standardization, audit readiness, and knowledge sharing.
- Delivers strategic insights for monthly reporting and retrospective reviews, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Contributes to strategic initiatives by identifying procedure and audit improvement opportunities and supporting process enhancements, pilots, and change implementations.
Stakeholders Management
- Communicates fixes and provides timely, clear updates to customers and internal stakeholders, effectively managing expectations throughout the case lifecycle.
- Flags data issues to Operations and Product teams with appropriate context, collaborating on validation, remediation, and root‑cause analysis.
- Gathers and synthesizes Voice of Customer (VOC) inputs by highlighting recurring product gaps, data defects, and quality‑impacting trends.
- Serves as a subject‑matter support resource for interns and new joiners, mentoring them on process workflows, data quality methods, and execution best practices.
- Ensure consistent follow‑through on escalations and resolutions by coordinating stakeholders and maintaining clear documentation and communication trails.

- Maintain assigned KPIs.
- Collaborate with Ops and Steward to deliver high‑quality root‑cause analysis (RCA) with clear and actionable insights.
- Demonstrate consistent anomaly detection volume, identifying meaningful patterns early.
- Show reduction in client‑reported errors through improved data checks and issue prevention.
- Contribute to closure of process gaps and adoption of quality‑by‑design improvements that reduce recurring defects.
For This Role You'll Need to Have (Skills & Competencies)
Technical Skills
- Moderate knowledge of SQL/Python for running queries, validating fields, and investigating anomalies.
- Foundational understanding of GenAI Tools, Prompting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, lookups, pivots, and quality‑control analysis.
- Experience using quality‑assurance (QA) tools for manual and automated validation.
- Ability to use data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to create dashboards and convey data quality insights.
- Possess basic product knowledge to understand assigned datasets, workflows, and common data issues during validation.
- Follows product documentation and SOPs to assess data issues and escalate gaps appropriately.
Functional Skills
- Ability to perform data validation, audit checks, exception reviews, and sampling‑based evaluations across datasets.
- Ability to apply sampling frameworks to detect patterns, anomalies, and recurring defects.
- Capability to interpret trends, identify quality issues, and propose improvements based on insights.

Preferred Education & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in data quality, data analysis, or data operations roles, with demonstrated exposure to multi‑dataset quality assessment and advanced validation techniques.
