Senior Manager, Facilities and EH&S

Summary
The Senior Manager, Facilities and EH&S, will ensure the effective functioning of CellCarta's facilities in Antwerp and provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and their activities by applying best business practices to manage resources, services, and processes that meet the company's needs. The role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal requirements related to facilities, environmental health, and safety.
You are responsible for the day-to-day facilities and EHS management of the Antwerp site. You serve as the primary point of contact for facilities and EHS matters for internal departments, management, external suppliers, and partners. You are responsible for the management and maintenance of the buildings and utilities to ensure optimal reliability and support for site operations.
Responsibilities
- Facilities Management
- Ensure that the facility remains in an appropriate state to support CellCarta's business processes
- Ensure that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health, and safety standards
- Ensure that facility systems such as HVAC, backup generators, access control, and temperature monitoring are maintained according to specifications and that maintenance activities are documented
- Ensure maintenance contracts are in place for facility systems
- Implement and maintain waste management and cleaning procedures that are in line with quality standards and local regulations
- Act in accordance with the operational needs of the site
- Act as the primary contact for facility system vendors and maintain good professional relationships with these vendors
- Act as an internal contact for all facility-related questions and requests
- Manage the building control systems in collaboration with facility system vendors
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and manage the consequences
- Coordinate the Business Continuity Plan
- Manage and coach technical facility staff and supervise external contractors
- Assist with the follow-up of KPIs
- Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
- Head of Internal Prevention Service
- Ensure compliance with legal and accreditation (ISO 15189:2012 & CAP) requirements regarding environment, health, and safety
- Integrate environment, health, and safety policies and procedures into the quality management system
- Follow up on the implementation of these policies in the workplace
- Detect, analyze, and evaluate environmental, health, and safety risks and formulate proposals for risk mitigation
- Perform EHS training, including Emergency Action Plan drills, New Hire Orientation, and specialized training such as Ergonomics, First Aid, BBP, PPE, etc
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate external Occupational Health services
- Work with staff to ensure safety standards are met
- Inform employees and increase safety awareness
- Serve as Prevention Advisor and Secretary of the Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work (CPPW)
- Assist in the follow-up of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Main Requirements
- Experience in construction, maintenance, and all facets of facility operations
- Level 1 Prevention Advisor diploma required, with preferably 3 years of experience in a laboratory environment
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Working knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Advanced knowledge of Dutch and English, both spoken and written
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Dynamic personality, a true team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Good documentation skills (accurate and detail-oriented)
- Experience with drawing software packages (e.g., AutoCAD 2D) is an asset
- Flexible with regard to working hours
