The Role
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance plans for all plant assets to enable safe, reliable, and cost effective operations. The role ensures work is clearly scoped, risk assessed, resourced, and scheduled to protect people and product, meet compliance requirements, and sustain service levels. By partnering with Production, Engineering, Quality, SHE, and Supply Chain, the Maintenance Planner improves plan quality, increases planned work, reduces unplanned downtime, and strengthens asset performance through disciplined CMMS data and continuous improvement.
What you'll be responsible for
- Develops detailed preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance plans for all plant assets.
- Prepares job plans including task steps, required manpower, tools, spare parts, permits, and isolation/LOTO requirements.
- Builds and optimizes weekly and monthly maintenance schedules with Production to protect line service levels and minimize downtime.
- Converts approved requests into well-structured work orders with clear scopes and technical details.
- Ensures timely closure of work orders and accuracy of feedback in the CMMS.
- Identifies and reserves required spare parts, consumables, and tools before execution, balancing availability with cost and inventory controls.
- Coordinates with Procurement, Stores, and service providers to ensure resource availability and compliant contractor mobilization.
- Maintains accurate BOMs, spare parts lists, and planning data within the CMMS.
- Works closely with technicians, engineering leads, and production teams to align maintenance activities with operational requirements.
- Participates in maintenance and production meetings to communicate schedules, work status, and constraints.
- Supports cross-functional coordination during planned shutdowns or major maintenance events.
- Ensures shutdown/overhaul readiness by integrating scope, critical spares, contractor plans, and risk controls into the schedule.
- Analyzes maintenance and downtime data to identify recurring losses, plan-break drivers, delays, and improvement opportunities.
- Supports reliability initiatives (PM optimization, RCFA/RCA, FMEA, equipment health checks) and drives closure of agreed actions.
- Recommends improvements to maintenance strategies, asset care standards, and documentation.
- Ensures planned work complies with safety standards and permit-to-work requirements, including verified isolations/LOTO and risk assessments where required.
- Maintains accurate equipment history, job plans, BOMs, and technical records in the CMMS to enable audit readiness and decision-making.
- Supports audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to maintenance activities.
We're looking for someone who
- College degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance planning, maintenance execution, reliability engineering, or similar technical role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience on preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities across multiple asset types with 24/7 or shift-based factory environment
- Experience working in a CMMS-driven maintenance environment
- Experience supporting planning for at least one of the following: processing or packaging equipment; utilities (boilers, compressors, refrigeration, water systems); or electrical/instrumentation systems. • Familiarity with equipment documentation (manuals, spare parts lists, job plans or work instructions)
- Working knowledge of permit-to-work, LOTO, and basic safety risk assessment (JSA/JHA).
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems applicable to the site.
- Strong coordination and communication skills to work effectively with technicians, engineers, production teams, production planner and contractor
- Desirable/Preferred • Professional maintenance or reliability certification is an advantage (e.g., CMRP, TPM, Reliability or Planning certification) • Experience participating in TPM/ICMS lean activities. • Experience supporting improvement of PM Compliance, schedule adherence, equipment availability
