Why This Role Matters

 

Every member who opens the Personify Health app is running on the iOS and Android foundation that Guardians owns: platform infrastructure, release operations, and core services. As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the team that keeps that core stable and compliant while building what comes next: faster mobile builds, better tooling, and AI-assisted engineering that raises velocity and quality for every team shipping on top of it. This is a hands-on leadership role with a protected roadmap, not a support desk.

 

What You’ll Actually Do

 

Own the mobile core: Run the shared iOS and Android core services layer that product and security teams build on, including platform infrastructure and the mobile CI/CD, build, and release tooling behind it.

Run mobile DevOps and SRE: Operate release captain rotations, release processes, morning health checks, and production monitoring, and lead incident response and post-incident documentation.

Ship to the stores: Own App Store and Google Play submission, compliance, and release obligations end to end.

Drive DevEx and AI tooling: Improve build speed, testing infrastructure, and the overall ease of shipping against the core. Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted tooling where it measurably improves velocity and quality, and report on defined success metrics.

Protect the roadmap: Manage team capacity so DevEx and AI tooling work isn’t displaced by reactive, cross-team demands, and prioritize between committed delivery obligations and the team’s own goals.

Partner on security and identity: Serve as the mobile execution partner for the security and identity team on work like fraud detection, login, biometrics, OTP, and MFA, and agree on what belongs with Guardians versus the security team.

Define team boundaries: Set and maintain the line between Guardians’ core services and product teams’ in-app surfaces, and represent Guardians in roadmap planning with peer Engineering Managers, the Director of Platform Engineering, and Product/UX leadership.

Lead the team: Manage, mentor, and grow iOS and Android engineers, including hiring, performance reviews, and career development. Run sprint planning, retrospectives, and regression/release testing, and report platform health metrics (stability, release cadence, incident volume).

 

Qualifications

What You Bring to Our Team

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful exposure to mobile (iOS and/or Android) development
• 3+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role, managing and developing engineers
• Experience owning production mobile release operations: App Store/Google Play submission, release processes, and release-captain-style rotations
• Experience with production operations: on-call ownership, incident response, and observability/alerting tooling
• Experience working with security, product, and architecture teams on shared core-services work
• Preferred: exposure to healthcare, wellbeing, or benefits technology platforms
• Preferred: experience defining or negotiating team ownership boundaries in a multi-team engineering organization

Technical Skills

• Developer experience work: build/test speed, tooling, CI/CD, and reducing friction for engineers shipping mobile code
• Mobile (iOS and/or Android) development
• Observability and alerting tooling
• Preferred: evaluating or integrating AI-assisted engineering tools into a development workflow (code generation, testing, review automation)
• Preferred: mobile security concepts (biometrics, OTP, MFA, fraud detection) from a core-services/integration perspective
• Preferred: mobile CI/CD and build infrastructure at scale
