Position Objective
WC Health is seeking a reliable and compassionate Support Staff member to provide supervision, support, and assistance to individuals residing in our behavioral health transitional housing program.
The Support Staff member is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment throughout the overnight shift, monitoring residents, responding appropriately to emergencies, completing required documentation, and ensuring the facility is prepared for the next shift.
This position requires someone who can work independently, remain alert and attentive throughout the overnight hours, communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism when working with individuals who may have behavioral health needs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Monitor the facility and residents throughout the overnight/graveyard shift to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all residents.
- Conduct routine checks of the facility and common areas throughout the shift.
- Monitor resident activity and report safety concerns, behavioral concerns, or changes in condition to the appropriate supervisor.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral health concerns, emergencies, and other incidents while following WC Health policies and procedures.
- Contact emergency medical services or other appropriate emergency resources when necessary.
- Complete resident admissions and discharges when assigned and update the census accordingly.
- Complete all required shift documentation, including shift reports, incident reports, and other required electronic documentation.
- Maintain accurate records regarding resident activity, incidents, and significant events during the shift.
- Prepare and organize meals, snacks, and/or other approved food items as assigned.
- Complete light housekeeping duties, including:
- Laundry
- Making beds
- Cleaning and sanitizing common areas
- Cleaning and sanitizing rooms as needed
- Removing trash
- Maintaining an organized and sanitary environment
- Monitor and maintain inventory of groceries, cleaning supplies, household supplies, and other program materials.
- Notify the appropriate supervisor when supplies are low or additional supplies are needed.
- Assist with maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the facility.
- Complete all assigned overnight duties before the end of the shift.
- Provide appropriate information and updates to the incoming shift during shift change.
- Maintain professional, respectful, and supportive interactions with residents, coworkers, supervisors, and visitors.
- Protect resident confidentiality and follow all applicable privacy and organizational requirements.
- Follow all WC Health policies, procedures, safety standards, and behavioral health protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Housing Supervisor, or other designated leadership.
Graveyard Shift Expectations
Because this is an overnight position, the Support Staff member must:
- Remain awake, alert, and attentive for the entire scheduled shift.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of the facility and residents at all times.
- Complete required rounds, checks, documentation, and assigned duties throughout the shift.
- Respond promptly to resident needs, safety concerns, and emergencies.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility for the incoming morning shift.
- Provide a thorough shift-to-shift handoff regarding any incidents, concerns, resident needs, or outstanding tasks.
- Be dependable and consistently report to scheduled shifts on time.
Schedule and Transportation Requirements
- Full-time position
- $15.00 per hour
- Overnight/Graveyard shift
- Weekends are required and will be included in the regular schedule.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and other scheduled shifts as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation to report to either of WC Health's two assigned locations, based on current staffing and company operational needs.
- Staff may be assigned to either location depending on scheduling, coverage, and business needs.
- Employees are responsible for ensuring they have reliable transportation to and from their assigned work location.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
Education and Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergency situations.
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between WC Health's two assigned locations as needed based on company operational needs.
Preferred:
- One year of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential services, supportive housing, social services, or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health or behavioral health challenges.
- Experience working overnight or graveyard shifts.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Remain alert and actively monitor the facility for the duration of the shift.
- Frequently walk throughout the facility and perform routine checks.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform light housekeeping duties.
- Lift and carry light household or program supplies as needed.
- Work in a residential behavioral health environment.
- Respond appropriately during emergencies and other unexpected situations.
