Description
The Enoch Pratt Free Library seeks a Director of Foundation Relations & Stewardship to support and grow philanthropic support from foundations and institutional partners while strengthening stewardship of donors who invest in the Library’s programs and priorities.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, this position will manage the Library’s foundation grant program, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals and applications, coordinating grant reporting, and maintaining a comprehensive grant calendar.
The Director will also lead stewardship efforts that demonstrate the impact of philanthropic support to foundation partners and individual programmatic donors, including working with the Director of Individual Giving & Corporate Relations to create and establish a stewardship program for annual fund donors.
The Director will work closely with Library program staff and leadership to gather programmatic information, outcomes, budgets, and stories that can be translated into compelling grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.

Summary of Duties:
- Manage the Library’s foundation grant calendar, tracking opportunities, deadlines, applications, awards, and reporting requirements.
- Research and identify new foundation funding opportunities aligned with Library programs, initiatives, and priorities.
- Prepare compelling letters of inquiry, grant applications, proposals, budgets, and reports for foundation partners.
- Coordinate with Library program staff and leadership to gather information, outcomes, data, budgets, and stories needed for proposals and reports.
- Manage the grant reporting process and ensure timely, accurate submission of reports and other funder requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with foundation program officers and institutional partners as appropriate.
- Create annual stewardship and impact reports for foundation donors and other philanthropic partners.
- Develop programmatic impact materials that demonstrate how donor support is advancing Library programs, services, and community impact.
- Work with the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and program staff to identify opportunities for new funding and renewed support.
- Support proposals for program sponsorships and other institutional funding opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of grants, proposals, awards, reports, and funder communications in the Library’s fundraising database.
- Collaborate with the Institutional Advancement team to ensure consistent and meaningful stewardship of donors and funders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of experience in grant writing, foundation relations, development, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
- Experience in developing compelling grant proposals and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with foundations and institutional funders.
- Experience with fundraising databases.
- Commitment to the mission of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the role of libraries in strengthening communities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Foundation fundraising, grant development, and institutional giving practices.
- The grant lifecycle, including prospect research, applications, reporting, renewals, and stewardship.
- Foundation and corporate philanthropy and funding priorities.
- Donor stewardship and impact reporting practices.
- Fundraising databases and systems for tracking grants, funders, and donor information.
Skills in:
- Grant writing, editing, research, and proofreading.
- Excellent writing, editing, research, and project management skills.
- Developing clear and compelling proposals, reports, and stewardship communications.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing multiple deadlines.
Ability to:
- Ability to work collaboratively with program staff, leadership, and fundraising colleagues to gather and translate information into effective proposals and impact communications.
- Identify foundation funding opportunities aligned with Library programs and priorities.
- Translate program outcomes, data, and stories into compelling grant proposals and donor impact reports.
- Manage a comprehensive grant calendar and ensure timely, accurate submissions and reports.
- Collaborate effectively with program staff, Library leadership, funders, and colleagues.
- Work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities.
