Description
A highly successful, fast-growing business with a turnover of approximately £30 million is looking to appoint a Part-Time Accountant to support its expanding finance function. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as it continues its rapid growth journey, with ambitious plans to expand further into the European market. Operating within a very fast-paced environment, the business is seeking a proactive finance professional who can thrive in a dynamic setting and support multiple entities across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the month-end close process across group entities
- Support bank reconciliations
- Accruals, prepayments, and deferred income/COGS journals
- Help maintain and work through entity-level close checklists
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts
- Support preparation and review of UK VAT returns (quarterly, accrual scheme) across multiple VAT-registered entities
- Assist with EU VAT compliance including IOSS/OSS reporting for EU consumer sales
- Support ongoing correspondence and documentation for HMRC enquiries as needed
- Help ensure reverse charge treatment is correctly applied for overseas B2B service costs (e.g., digital advertising, SaaS platforms)
- Support preparation and reconciliation of intercompany balances and recharges across the group's multi-entity structure
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and reasonableness checks
- Assist with weekly and monthly payroll journal postings across entities
- Support pension (NEST) and payroll-related reconciliations
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as the business scales and expands into new markets
- Work closely with external accountants/advisors and internal stakeholders
About You
- Solid experience with month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journal postings
- Strong month-end accounting and reconciliation experience
- Experience producing accounts for multiple entities is highly desirable
- Good working knowledge of VAT
- Strong Excel skills and experience using Xero (preferred)
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines within a fast-moving environment
- Experience in e-commerce or a multi-entity group structure desirable
- Experience with payroll processes and pension administration desirable
