The University Marketing and Communications department seeks to hire a Student Social Media Assistant. This position will assist with creating engaging content for the university's social media channels, helping to showcase campus life, student experiences, academic programs and university events. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, knowledgeable about current social media trends and enthusiastic about sharing the UW-Superior story with prospective and current students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of content for university social media channels, including short-form videos, photos and student-focused content.
- Research social media trends, platform updates and emerging content strategies to help improve engagement and reach.
- Provide photo and video coverage of campus events, activities and student experiences.
- Assist with photo and video shoots, including recruiting students to participate when necessary.
- Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications staff to develop content ideas that support university goals and campaigns.
- Monitor social media activity and identify opportunities for timely and relevant content.
- Utilize technologies and software commonly used in the office environment, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and social media management tools.
- Demonstrate excellent organization, time management and critical thinking skills while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Take initiative and work effectively with indirect supervision.
- Maintain a strong willingness to learn and adapt to evolving social media trends and best practices.
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of the marketing team.
- Other duties as assigned.

The University will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except that the identities of ‘final candidates’ must be revealed upon request.
