Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat residents with speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on resident goals and clinical needs
- Conduct dysphagia assessments and provide evidence-based swallowing interventions
- Treat residents with neurological, cognitive, and medically complex conditions
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, residents, and families
- Educate residents, caregivers, and staff regarding treatment recommendations and compensatory strategies
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and discharge planning activities
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with facility, state, federal, Medicare, and reimbursement requirements
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans to maximize outcomes
- Support resident safety, communication, nutrition, and overall quality of life
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
- Current California Speech-Language Pathologist License required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or eligibility to obtain
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Post-Acute Care, Rehabilitation, Long-Term Care, or Acute Care settings preferred
- Knowledge of dysphagia management, modified diets, and swallowing disorders preferred
- Experience with cognitive, neurological, and medically complex patient populations preferred
