This work will help prepare Christ-centered physicians who use technology skillfully and responsibly, preserve human dignity, alleviate suffering, and minister to God’s children throughout the world.

  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience advancing innovation in healthcare, technology, higher education, research, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, including their educational, clinical, and research applications, limitations, risks, and ethical implications.
  • Experience integrating AI or emerging technologies into medical, clinical, higher education, or related settings.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across academic and clinical environments.
  • Appointment to this position will require Ecclesiastical Endorsement, and the applicant will be expected to abide by the Church Education System Code of Conduct.
  • Preferred: Experience in medical education.
  • Preferred: Experience with curriculum design, faculty development, assessment, or educational quality improvement.
  • Preferred: Record of scholarship in medical education innovation, AI, or emerging technologies.
  • Preferred: Experience leading technology adoption, governance, or policy initiatives.

Duties/Expectations:

Strategic Leadership and Responsible Innovation

  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for medical education innovation and emerging technologies that advances the school’s mission and prepares graduates to excel in an AI-enabled healthcare environment.
  • Identify, evaluate, implement, assess, and promote the responsible use of innovations that strengthen learning, clinical reasoning, human intelligence, agency, judgement, and relationships.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding the educational, ethical, and professional implications of emerging technologies in medical education and clinical practice.

Curriculum Integration

  • Collaboratively develop and support the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies throughout the MD curriculum, working closely with curriculum leaders, faculty, and students, and in alignment with the oversight and approval authority of the Curriculum Committee.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance teaching, learning, assessment, and clinical preparation through appropriate use of emerging technologies.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, development, teaching, and assessment to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and judgment needed for technology-enabled clinical practice.

Faculty Development

  • Develop faculty capabilities in technology-enhanced teaching, assessment, feedback, and learner development, in collaboration with the Office of Faculty.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and educational opportunities that prepare faculty to use emerging technologies skillfully, responsibly, and effectively.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and lifelong learning while helping educators become intentional, discerning, and effective users of emerging technologies.
  • Provide consultation and support to faculty as they evaluate, adopt, and integrate emerging technologies into their educational activities.

Scholarship

  • Support educational research and innovation initiatives including within the clinical learning environment.
  • Assess the effectiveness of educational innovations and emerging technologies, disseminate findings through scholarly activities, and promote evidence-informed continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the national conversation regarding medical education innovation and the responsible use of emerging technologies in learning and medical practice through scholarship, presentations, and professional engagement.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with school and university leadership, faculty, students, clinical partners, industry leaders, and external institutions to identify emerging opportunities, share effective practices, and advance innovation and educational excellence.
  • Provide leadership for projects, initiatives, and partnerships focused on emerging technologies and medical education innovation that advance educational excellence and the school's strategic priorities, while collaborating with academic, clinical, and external stakeholders.

May be assigned additional responsibilities within the School of Medicine, including participation in teaching, curriculum review, committee service, and other institutional initiatives.
