Job Description Summary

The Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) invites applications for an assistant professor of Early Modern European Art History (1300-1800). Topical and geographical specialty is open.

We are particularly interested in scholars with research and teaching interests that complement the Department’s strengths in archaeology and cultural heritage, digital art history, the circulation of objects through trade or conquest, environmental humanities, and histories of race, representation, and colonial power. Candidates are invited to discuss their potential to engage the rich cultural resources of the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area in their research and teaching. Successful candidates will demonstrate their readiness to contribute to our undergraduate major and M.A. and Ph.D. programs in Art History and Archaeology through classroom teaching and student mentorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have completed their doctoral degree in Art History or a related field when the term of appointment commences (July 1, 2027). Teaching experience at the college or university level is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
