Job Description:
The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track Hydrogeophysicist at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek either a geophysicist who works on water-related topics or a hydrogeologist who uses geophysical methods. The research focus area may include a broad range of earth and/or planetary settings. Collaborative opportunities at LSU include the College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Coast and the Environment, and the Energy Institute. LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology offers powerful platforms for research with a substantial computational component. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, independent extramurally funded research program and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the area of their expertise.
Duties Include:
45% Establish and maintain a vigorous, independent extramurally funded research program.
45% Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the area of Geology and Geophysics.
10% Contribute to service to the Department of Geology and Geophysics and College of Science.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Earth Science, or related field at the time of appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: Specific Experience
Topic of the work is in some area of Hydrogeophysics, with demonstrated expertise in at least one area of Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or Geophysics.
Postdoctoral experience and a record of successful independent research is preferred.
This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01.
