Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Purchasing Specialist, under general supervision, you will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and initiating orders to purchase both stock and non-stock materials, supplies, and equipment. Your role will be critical in ensuring the continuous availability of essential resources.Every day, you will meticulously monitor inventory levels, utilize computer programs to make informed decisions on re-order quantities, and diligently follow-up on backorders. You will collaborate closely with warehouse personnel to ensure the timely availability of stock items, thereby maintaining operational efficiency across departments.To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in using computer programs for inventory management. Your ability to effectively manage purchasing cycles, proactively address supply chain issues, and collaborate efficiently with internal teams will be essential in supporting our operational needs.
- Conceive a strategy to ensure the consistent flow of quality supplies through the department. Establish, implement & enforce purchasing guidelines to ensure order timeliness. Continually monitor all purchases, denoting, reporting and rectifying any deviations from set guidelines
- Acts as a liaison with outside purchasing agent to coordinate supply purchases & inventory tracking. Compile statistical data regarding department purchases and repairs, and supply appropriate personnel with such information
- Coordinate, document, purchase and expedite all non‐stock medical, office & other supplies for multiple departmental cost centers. Research, evaluate recommend and verify orders on a daily basis
- Create and maintain e‐files and hard copy files for all departmental purchases both capital & operational. Maintain accurate paper work on all departmental service contracts, ensuring appropriate schedules are met and communicates all pertinent information to the correct personnel
- Maintain assigned area in a clean and orderly manner at all times, in compliance with applicable standards
- Interact with the departmental managers, supervisors and administrative staff of individual sections, overseeing purchasing, inventory, and supplying historical data
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate, upon hire or
- High School GED, upon hire and
- Three (3) years of purchasing experience in a healthcare setting
