Summary Section
Responsibilities:
Responsible for design, specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems.
Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Review and approval of:
Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
For a wide range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys
Ensure compliance with ASME, API, and other applicable codes.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during:
Fabrication
Site commissioning
Plant shutdowns
Advise on:
Material selection
Weldability for corrosive and high-temperature service environments
Support technology development initiatives involving advanced welding processes such as:
GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
SAW (Submerged Arc Welding)
Overlay welding
Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety standards across welding operations
Demonstrate strong knowledge of:
ASME Section IX, API, AWS codes and standards
Welding of stainless steels, ferritic alloys, and nickel-based alloys
Understanding of:
Corrosion mechanisms (API 571)
Material behavior in chemical processing environments.
Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
8–10 years of relevant experience in welding engineering, preferably in:
Process equipment manufacturing
Technology licensing
EPC projects
Mandatory:
CSWIP or equivalent welding certification
Preferred
AWS CWI / IIW Welding Engineer or Inspector certification
ASNT Level II certifications in PT, MT, RT, and UT
API 571 / 577 / 580 certifications
NACE certification
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate with global teams and travel to fabrication yards and project sites as required.
Exposure to technology licensing projects or EPC project execution
Experience working in multicultural and global project environments
