Behind every successful team is great operational support, and we're looking for a Business Administrator to join us and play a vital role in ensuring our teams can work efficiently and effectively.

If you're organised, detail-oriented and enjoy providing excellent administrative support in a busy environment, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Business Administrator, you'll provide technical and administrative support to help teams operate effectively and deliver against business objectives. You'll be responsible for managing and maintaining data and information across a range of systems, supporting service delivery plans, coordinating administrative activities, and ensuring compliance with business processes.

Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll ensure processes are followed accurately support operational performance and contribute to the successful delivery of business objectives.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing and maintaining data across a range of systems and platforms, ensuring accuracy, quality, GDPR compliance, and adherence to organisational standards

  • Creating, updating, and maintaining records, work requests, and supporting documentation to enable the timely delivery of production plans

  • Receiving, validating, and distributing data and associated information to ensure records remain accurate and up to date

  • Monitoring and analysing data to support billing, performance reporting, and operational decision-making

  • Researching, compiling, and reporting information to support business and operational requirements

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery plan requirements are met

What we’re looking for

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and priorities

  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications and other electronic systems

  • Able to work independently whilst building effective working relationships.

  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Customer-focused and committed to delivering a high-quality service

  • Proactive, adaptable and keen to learn new skills

Essential skills and experience

  • Proficient in maintaining data accuracy and meeting compliance standards

  • Attention to detail in managing and reporting information

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Geospatial Management Information Systems)

  • Familiarity with GDPR and other regulatory requirements

The Rewards

We want you to love what you do and feel supported to do your best work.

Our benefits include:

  • Competitive salary and pension (OS contribute up to 12.07%)

  • Performance-related bonus (where applicable)

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service)

  • Enhanced family leave, including paid partner leave

  • Hybrid and flexible working options

  • Learning and development support, coaching and mentoring

  • Free subscription to OS Maps and access to wellbeing support

  • Volunteering leave and matched fundraising

Location & working pattern

We embrace a hybrid working model at OS, because we believe in flexibility and balance.  You’ll be based at our fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire, where you'll spend 50% of your working week collaborating face-to-face with colleagues. It’s all about combining the best of both worlds connection and autonomy to help you thrive.

Security & eligibility

OS conducts pre-employment checks for anyone made an offer of employment, including identity, right to work, employment history and criminal record checks (via Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS).

Some of our roles may require additional security vetting. We will advise candidates during the recruitment process if additional vetting may be required for that specific role.

This role requires the right to work in the UK at the time of application.  Unfortunately, OS cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Inclusion at OS

Research shows that people from underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Ordnance Survey, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and welcoming workplace.

If this role excites you but your experience doesn’t match every point, we encourage you to apply. You may be the right person for this role or another opportunity at OS.

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that people may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any during the application process.

Key details

Closing date: 23:59pm on 1st September

Interviews will be held in person at our head office in Southampton
