The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Inventory Controller to take ownership of stock accuracy, inventory reporting, warehouse utilisation, and stock reconciliation activities. This is a key role that works closely with Warehouse Operations, Production, Customer Service, Finance, and other departments to ensure effective stock control and accurate inventory management across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Stock Control
Maintain accurate stock balances and minimise stock discrepancies and short shipments.
Take ownership of the H12 report and resolve SNAP and BPCS transactional errors.
Manage the timely processing of stock write-offs and ensure obsolete stock is disposed of effectively.
Arrange and manage monthly stock reconciliations.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and provide timely resolutions.
Support the control of inventory financial value and stock accuracy across the warehouse operation.
Conduct full stock checks through SNAP/BPCS and coordinate annual physical stock takes.
Reporting & Analysis
Produce and maintain inventory reports and KPI information for the wider business.
Monitor and report on warehouse utilisation, including
Pallet space occupancI
Inter-site movement
Inbound shipments
Outbound shipments
Analyse inventory data and identify opportunities to improve data integrity, productivity, and efficiency.
Support material variance investigations alongside Finance and operational departments.
Auditing & Compliance
Conduct audits of inbound and outbound stock movements and report findings.
Ensure inventory processes comply with business standards and audit requirements.
Support external and internal audit requirements relating to inventory control.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Warehouse, Production, Material Control, Print, Thermoforming, and Paper departments.
Investigate customer inventory-related complaints and queries.
Support Customer Service with credit request investigations and supplementary invoice reviews.
Coordinate weekly stock investigation meetings and facilitate effective resolution of inventory issues.
Operational Support
Provide operational support and cover for Gatehouse, Production, and Material Control functions when required.
Support departmental continuity and succession planning.
Undertake additional responsibilities as reasonably required by the business.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management principles.
Previous experience using SNAP and BPCS systems.
Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make effective decisions.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Attributes
Experience training and supporting new employees.
People management experience with the ability to motivate and engage others.
