Mig Welder

Include the following:

• Ability to properly weld metal components to form an assembly.

• Ability to read and identify critical features of a part print as well as weld symbols.  Use of measuring instruments (tapes, calipers etc).

• Ability to set weld parameters on the controller such as heat, wire speed, and burn back rate.

• Knowledge of how the weld equipment is assembled, ie tip, diffuser, nozzle etc.

• Knowledge of wire feed system for a weld gun.

• Identifying weld fixtures that need repair or preventative maintenance.

• Identifying problems with part quality that affect ability to weld assemblies.

• Ability to work as a team member in a group setting, such as a work cell (cross training ability).

• Follow and adhere to safety rules and regulations (housekeeping, rules etc).

• Ability to interpret process sheets for the production of parts.

Other duties may be assigned as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
