Purpose:
The Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) Department in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University invites applications for one full-time tenure-track faculty position in Information Systems at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in Fall 2027.

Specialty or Sub-Discipline
The ISA department seeks candidates whose research, teaching, and service interests align with the needs of the department. The department welcomes candidates who have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, embrace the Silicon Valley spirit, and have the expertise or willingness to teach one or more subjects like Generative AI, Information Systems Analysis and Design, Business Analytics, NLP, Database Management Systems, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or ABD in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or other related areas by September 1 of 2027.
Demonstrated potential for high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly research.
Demonstrated potential for effective and inclusive teaching and mentoring of a diverse student population.
Commitment to contributing to Santa Clara University’s mission, including fostering a culture of inclusion and academic excellence.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a program of research leading to publications in high-quality journals
Teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses and fulfilling the responsibilities associated with those courses
Providing suitable service to the department, university, profession, and/or community.
Research/Scholarly Work
Maintain an active program of scholarly research leading to publications in respected journals.
Conduct research in accordance with the scholarly standards maintained by the ISA Department that contribute to the evaluation of tenure and promotion.
The University is strongly committed to supporting early-career faculty through research funding, mentoring, and professional development resources.
Teaching
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the faculty member’s area of expertise, as assigned by the department chair.
SCU is on a quarter system, and tenure-stream faculty typically teach six courses per year (two per quarter, each quarter being 10 weeks). The department supports stacking teaching into two quarters, assuming active engagement in research.
Junior faculty get course releases for the first few years and additional course releases after passing the mid-probationary review.
The University provides extensive support for teaching development through its Faculty Development programs, which include workshops, grants, and mentoring opportunities.
Teaching will be evaluated according to departmental standards and the principles of Ignatian pedagogy, which emphasize respectful, inclusive, engaging, and evidence-based instruction.
Service
Provide effective service to the Department, School, University, profession, and/or community through committee work, leadership, professional engagement, and other contributions consistent with rank and experience.

The ISA department offers both Information Systems and Business Analytics programs at the undergraduate and master’s levels and contributes courses to MBA and other graduate programs at Santa Clara University. The ISA faculty’s scholarship encompasses several areas of Information Systems, Operations Management, and Computer Science.
