The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Management in the David W. Wilson College of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or term Assistant Professor of Practice position in Business Analytics (BA) and Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), starting in August 2027. Primary teaching responsibilities will involve courses in the Business Analytics and AI programs, emphasizing programming-based approaches to data analysis, emerging topics in AI, and business decision-making. In-person, on-campus teaching and regular office hours are required; responsibilities may also include a limited number of online courses.
The department welcomes candidates with a variety of research agendas and methodological approaches. Applicants will find a collegial work environment and faculty actively engaged in the growth and continuous improvement of the Management Department’s majors. Salary and benefits are competitive with peer institutions.
Education Requirements:
Tenure-track position: Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline required. ABDs are welcome to apply with an expected degree completion date by August 2028.

Term position: Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related fields will be considered for a full-time, non-tenure-track hire, and will be expected to transition to tenure track contingent on successful completion of a doctoral degree in Business Analytics or Artificial Intelligence within a pre-defined time frame. Applicants may be eligible for a faculty recruitment tuition reimbursement program intended to support faculty in pursuing a doctoral degree that benefits UNI and the faculty member's assigned program.
Required Qualifications:
Tenure-track position: Record of stand-alone teaching excellence with evidence of a student-focused approach; interest in teaching courses in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence; the ability to produce peer-reviewed, publishable research relevant to the business environment; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and recognition as an enterprising and effective member of a collaborative team required.

Term position: Interest in teaching courses in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence; significant work experience in business analytics or artificial intelligence; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and recognition as an enterprising and effective member of a collaborative team required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenure-track position: Stand-alone teaching experience in the field of Business Analytics or Artificial Intelligence, with a preference for a programming-based class; research in applied artificial intelligence; practical industry experience using analytical or agentic AI tools; active involvement in professional associations; and terminal degree from an AACSB-accredited institution preferred.
