Picture yourself in our team:

You will be part of a highly connected Global Markets business, working with a diverse institutional client base including Asset Managers, Superannuation Funds, Central Banks, Hedge Funds, Commercial Banks and other Financial Institutions.
Do work that matters:
This is a client-facing sales role for someone who enjoys markets, building relationships and identifying opportunities. You will take ownership of a portfolio of institutional clients, developing a deep understanding of their investment and risk management needs and connecting them with relevant Fixed Income and Rates ideas and solutions.
With a focus on New Zealand domiciled and offshore clients, including Hedge Funds, you will work closely with Institutional Sales teams globally and partner across Trading, Debt Capital Markets, Syndications, Client Risk Solutions, Structuring and Research. This connectivity will put you at the centre of market activity, bringing together client insight, market intelligence and CBA’s broader capabilities to create opportunities and deliver for clients.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Build and deepen relationships across a portfolio of institutional clients, providing Fixed Income and Rates coverage and identifying opportunities to grow the franchise.
- Develop a strong understanding of clients’ investment objectives and risk management needs to deliver relevant ideas and solutions.
- Bring a strong understanding of FX, Rates and Fixed Income markets to client conversations and idea generation.
- Partner closely with Trading, Debt Capital Markets and other origination teams, providing timely market and client feedback.
- Work with offshore Institutional teams to connect clients with opportunities across CBA’s global franchise.
- Leverage the Bank’s strategic and economic research to generate relevant client ideas and market insights.
- Use AI and work with the IB&M AI team to better understand client behaviour and trading patterns and improve sales workflows.
- Support the onboarding of new clients and help create a seamless client experience.
- Actively gather and share market intelligence to support idea generation, execution and broader business opportunities.
- Assist the Head of NZ Fixed Income Sales with managerial responsibilities as required.
- Drive continuous improvement across products, people, processes and systems.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation while contributing as a collaborative team member in a fast-paced markets environment.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have:
- At least 5 to 7 years experience in Fixed Income and/or Rates sales within Global Markets, with a strong understanding of institutional markets and relevant financial products.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing institutional client relationships, ideally across Asset Managers, Superannuation Funds, Central Banks, Hedge Funds, Commercial Banks and/or other Financial Institutions.
- Strong knowledge of Fixed Income, Rates and FX markets, with the ability to translate market developments, research and client needs into relevant trade ideas and solutions.
- Proven commercial and sales capability, with experience identifying opportunities, growing client relationships and contributing to revenue and broader franchise objectives.
- Strong relationship management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Trading, DCM, Syndications, Structuring, Research and global Institutional Sales teams.
- Sound understanding of risk, regulatory and compliance requirements within an institutional markets environment.
- Strong analytical capability and curiosity, with an interest in leveraging data, technology and AI to understand client behaviour, identify opportunities and improve sales effectiveness.
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
