Business Unit Overview:
Finance and Strategy is critical to BlackRock for profitable growth. The team shapes long-term objectives for growth and scale; guides near-term objectives, resource allocations and budgets; analyzes business metrics to identify growth and scale opportunities; and brings insights to help successfully manage our financial objectives amidst a dynamic business environment. We are at the center of the firm, working across all levels of BlackRock to provide both a broad and deep understanding of the firm’s business and financial position and opportunities.
Role Description
Within the Finance and Strategy group, BlackRock is seeking a Vice President to join the Strategic Finance team in Mumbai. The Strategic Finance team is responsible for overall financial strategy of the firm and rolls up to the Global Head of Corporate Strategy and FP&A. The team also works closely with the Financial Information and Analytics (FI&A) team which operates with a Center of Excellence (CoE) model and is responsible for efficient, thoughtful, and scalable production to meet operational excellence, deliver high-value business insights through front-end visualization tools, application of modelling and analytics to generate new insights at scale, engage with technology partners to accelerate data and process transformation. The group is also responsible for engaging with business partners to advise and offer expertise on the fundamental building blocks of how we manage the firm and bring insights from our financials.
This proposed role is envisioned to have 3 parts to it:
Firm wide Reporting, Analytics and Strategy: Working with the global strategic finance and FP&A team on overall BlackRock firm wide long-range forecasts and planning process, board presentations, as well as strategic projects, investment and growth priorities, and analytics (using different types of financial and business metrics to generate insights for the most senior leaders at the firm incl. Global CFO). Key target outcome here will be to have a step jump in the strategic finance work which happens out of India and add overall value to the firm. This will also involve driving forward key CoE priorities of FI&A team to being in efficiency as the firm scales towards 2030 strategy.
JioBlackRock: Working front-end with JioBLK teams (asset management, wealth management and brokerage) in Mumbai and helping them set up the right building blocks for Finance and Strategy. This will involve engaging directly with CEO, CXOs and other leaders at JioBlackRock applying a shareholder lens i.e. advising and reviewing business plans, managing capital requirements / cash burn levels, setting right reporting frameworks and being a thought partner to global business leaders at BlackRock ensuring right oversight and pursuing select strategy/ change management initiatives.
Select strategy projects / building India as a platform: Working with India leadership on other special projects from time to time
Key responsibilities:
Foster and develop strong business partnering relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to the CXOs, business and finance stakeholders
Develop and maintain financial models to provide accurate and timely insights into business performance, robust long-term planning, and scenario analysis
Conduct in-depth analysis of business and financial results highlighting key drivers and present analysis in a clear and concise manner appropriate for senior leadership
Oversee periodic financial reports (i.e., weekly, monthly, quarterly) for senior management; includes quarterly earnings support, Board of Directors presentations, and firm forecast / budget
Delivering data-driven insights and recommendations to influence key business decisions
Drive enhancement, automation, and scalability in processes and reporting
Manage a high-performing team, providing mentorship and clear direction to drive excellence
Be hands-on in executing the key priorities along with the people manager responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional partners and other Finance & Strategy sub-teams
Drive a collaborative and supportive work environment, coaching and developing team members
Skills & Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant (first attempt or rank mandatory) with 8-12 years of post-qualification experience in financial due diligence or top tier management consulting or innovate tech organization with strategy/ finance experience or premier asset manager
MBA in Finance from top tier institution, CFA from CFA Institute USA (both preferred but optional)
Strong problem solving and first principle thinking
Experience in engaging with CXOs with ability to articular well in verbal and written communication
Experience in building and managing high performance teams and grooming young talent
Strong commercial and business mindset with ability to identify key drivers moving the needle on top and bottom line
Strong command of data analytics, financial modeling, and scenario planning
Ability to manage fragmentation in a fast paced environment
High intent to perform and ownership
Collaborative to be able to navigate through the organization
Experience with driving tech transformation and AI initiatives in past organizations a big plus
Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
