Senior Tax Specialist

The Senior Tax Specialist will support the execution of tax compliance, governance and tax operations in Egypt, ensuring compliance with local regulations, Maersk policies, internal controls and agreed SLAs. The role will collaborate with Finance, Commercial, Operations, Procurement, customers, vendors, tax consultants and other Maersk entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support tax compliance activities and implementation of Egyptian tax requirements.
- Monitor tax updates and coordinate with external tax consultants.
- Manage tax documentation, including WHT certificates/receipts, tax records and supporting documents.
- Follow up with customers and vendors on required tax documentation and resolve tax-related discrepancies.
- Support tax reconciliations, reporting, data analysis and finance-related operational activities.
- Maintain accurate customer and vendor tax information and records.
- Ensure timely execution of activities in line with SLAs, internal controls, and governance requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve tax and compliance issues.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and other Maersk entities on tax and collection-related matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field.
- Relevant tax experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Good knowledge of Egyptian tax regulations and compliance processes.
- Experience with WHT and tax documentation preferred.
- SAP knowledge is an advantage.
- Fluent in English and Arabic.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and deliver within deadlines.
- Strong ownership, accountability and commitment to compliance and controls.
