Job Purpose
To lead the people and talent acquisition functions across a rapidly growing, multi-site automotive group. This is a hands-on, high-impact role blending strategic recruitment with robust HR operational delivery. You will take complete ownership of building, developing, and retaining the best teams in the South West across sales, technical, and head office functions. You will have the support of an HR Assistant to help you with this brand-new position.

Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Talent Acquisition
- Volume & Specialist Sourcing: Lead recruitment initiatives across diverse business units, including Sales, Aftersales, Technicians, Customer Service, and Head Office.
- Cost Reduction: Proactively headhunt and source high-quality candidates to systematically reduce reliance and spend on recruitment agencies.
- Employer Branding: Develop creative recruitment campaigns, local careers events, and robust employee referral schemes to build a strong talent pipeline.
2. Employee Relations & Managerial Coaching
- Casework Management: Manage day-to-day HR cases, providing hands-on support for disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance matters.
- Leadership Support: Act as a confident coach to line managers across multiple sites, upskilling them in people management and commercial best practices.
3. Operational HR & Compliance
- Lifecycle Management: Manage the full employee lifecycle from seamless onboarding and induction frameworks to structured retention and exit processes.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure all HR policies, company procedures, and employment practices remain fully compliant with current UK legislation.
- Data & Metrics: Track, analyze, and report on key HR and recruitment KPIs to measurably improve employee retention and commercial engagement.
Person Specification: Skills & Experience
- Qualifications: CIPD Level 5 qualification or Qualified by Experience.
- Experience: Proven track record as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or Senior HR Advisor. Strong recruitment experience within a fast-paced, high-volume commercial environment. Automotive industry experience, or backgrounds in the Retail, Hospitality, or Logistics sectors, are highly valued.
- Knowledge: Deep, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and familiarity with modern HRIS platforms. Knowledge of regional labour market trends in the South West region is also beneficial.
- Core Competencies: Strong autonomy with the ability to manage multiple sites independently. Strong commercial acumen to balance people strategies with business growth goals. Possesses strong negotiation and direct-sourcing skills to minimize agency use.
