Junior Data Engineer

As part of the Data Operations team and reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering, the Junior Data Engineer will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data engineering solutions that advance the data maturity of Augusta National Golf Club (ANGC). Working closely with senior team members, this role will contribute to data integration, automation, and data platform initiatives while developing technical expertise and engineering best practices. The Junior Data Engineer will assist in building reliable, scalable data solutions, support day-to-day operations, and contribute to the continued growth and vision of ANGC through continuous learning and collaboration.

This position is a full-time, on-site role in Augusta, GA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Contribute to all aspects of the data engineering lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and consumption, while assisting in the development of reusable frameworks and automated workflows.
• Provide on-going maintenance and support of existing and new data solutions.
• Assist in automating and optimizing analytic workloads by identifying opportunities to improve data processes and engineering efficiency.
• Participate in the implementation of data engineering solutions for processing, integrating, and storing high-volume data sets.
• Assist in monitoring data quality by performing data validation, testing, and quality analysis to ensure accurate and reliable data.
• Follow established engineering standards and best practices, including version control, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge and engineering skills while contributing to the team's culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with senior team members to troubleshoot data-related technical issues and support the organization's data infrastructure needs.
• Provide outstanding, friendly, customer service to all Augusta National staff, including executives and Club members as appropriate while being a positive representation of the Software Engineering and Data Analytics department to the entire organization.
• Maintain the strict confidentiality of Augusta National Golf Club, its staff and membership, and all aspects of the business.
• Assist with general Data Analytics related tasks as needed
• Assist with Data Analytics related tasks and preparations for The Masters Tournament
• Meet with users as required to discuss and re-visit departmental application needs
• Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job.

• Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
• Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications:

      Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

• Ability to analyze data requirements and various data sources while assisting in the extraction, transformation, and loading of data into the data warehouse.
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries and stored procedures with the ability to learn query optimization techniques.
• Foundational understanding of database design principles and data warehousing best practices.
• Experience with or working knowledge of Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms.
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational database platforms.
• Experience with or exposure to dbt, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Apache Airflow for automating data pipelines or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with solution automation, version control, automated testing, and CI/CD concepts is a plus.
• Familiarity with Python or other programming languages used in data engineering and analytics is a plus.
• Ability to learn and apply engineering best practices while contributing to sustainable and scalable data solutions.
• Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn new technologies and engineering practices.
• Comfortable in customer experience environment.

 

Relative Experience/Education:

• Undergraduate degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related technical field. Relevant internships, co-op experience, or academic projects may be considered.
• Familiar with BI reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Experience with or exposure to cloud data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
• Prior experience working in the Sports & Entertainment industries is a plus.

 

Required License(s):

• Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program

 

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
