Field Application Engineer

Position Overview

Our client, a global leader in electronic interconnect and connectivity solutions, is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support key enterprise and consumer electronics customers.

This position serves as the primary technical interface between customers, sales, product development, and product marketing teams. The FAE will help customers identify and implement interconnect solutions across applications including servers, storage, data centers, networking, power, memory, and internal I/O systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering knowledge with excellent customer-facing and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical engineering resource throughout the sales cycle, including technical discovery, solution design, prototyping, qualification, and production
• Work closely with customers to understand system requirements and recommend appropriate connector, cable assembly, and interconnect solutions
• Support product design-in activities across applications including power, memory, storage, servers, networking, and internal I/O
• Partner with sales and product teams to identify new opportunities and drive design wins
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and engineering discussions with customers
• Develop application-specific technical materials and customer-facing documentation
• Respond to customer technical inquiries and troubleshoot product/application issues
• Collaborate with internal engineering and product development teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions
• Support competitive analysis and help develop technical strategies that differentiate products and solutions
• Manage multiple customer programs and engineering projects from initial engagement through production
• Travel periodically to customer and engineering/manufacturing locations in the U.S. and Asia

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 2+ years of experience in Applications Engineering, Design Engineering, Field Applications Engineering, or a similar technical role
• Experience with electrical hardware components, connectors, cable assemblies, or interconnect solutions
• Experience supporting customers through product evaluation, design-in, qualification, and production
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical support that contributes to customer adoption and design wins

Preferred Skills

• Strong understanding of electronic hardware and interconnect applications
• Experience supporting server, storage, data center, networking, or consumer electronics products
• Proficiency with mechanical modeling/design tools such as Creo or SolidWorks
• Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and senior customer contacts
• Strong project and program management capabilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently while coordinating across global engineering, sales, and product teams
