Description
The Assistant Operations Manager plays a key role in supporting daily transportation operations by leading employees, promoting safe and compliant work practices, and ensuring exceptional service delivery. This position serves as a resource for drivers, attendants, dispatchers, and other team members by providing coaching, training, communication, and operational support. The Assistant Operations Manager works closely with leadership to foster a positive, reliable, and efficient work environment while supporting the organization's commitment to safety, service, and employee success.
Pay: $75,000/yr
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support daily transportation operations by ensuring employees understand their job duties, responsibilities, and expectations.
Foster open and transparent communication to promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing support to help employees succeed in their roles.
Serve as a resource for drivers, attendants, dispatchers, managers, and other operational staff.
Deliver training on company policies, procedures, systems, and new programs as needed.
Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards.
Analyze operational reports, metrics, and data to identify trends, maintain accuracy, and support informed decision-making.
Lead daily stand-up meetings, safety discussions, team meetings, and virtual meetings to communicate operational priorities and updates.
Participate in company meetings, conferences, training sessions, and special events as required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, service quality, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of three (3) years of transportation, logistics, passenger transportation, or related operational experience.
One (1) year of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, FTA, or transportation safety regulations preferred.
Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze reports, interpret data, and make sound operational decisions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation-related technologies preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
