About the role

We are looking for a Planner to develop and optimise planned and preventative maintenance schedules that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You'll join a team focused on delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable asset performance. Working collaboratively across maintenance and operations, you'll play a key role in ensuring maintenance activities are effectively planned and scheduled to maximise value across the asset lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a planning professional who enjoys working with data, systems, and stakeholders to deliver maintenance excellence in an asset-intensive environment.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Planner, your responsibilities will be to:

• Develop, review, and optimise planned and preventative maintenance schedules
• Plan maintenance activities to improve resource utilisation and operational efficiency
• Ensure maintenance plans comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance schedules and asset data within the CMMS
• Analyse work management and maintenance performance data to identify improvement opportunities
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to support effective work execution
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset reliability and performance

About you

• Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, scheduling or work management within an industrial, mining, manufacturing, or asset-intensive environment
• Experience developing planned and preventative maintenance schedules
• Proficiency using CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Pronto or similar systems
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance and work management data
• Sound understanding of maintenance and asset management principles
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and organisational skills
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Trade qualification, technical qualification or tertiary degree in Engineering, Asset Management, or a related discipline
• Experience supporting shutdowns, major maintenance campaigns, or reliability improvement programs

Where you’ll be working

Opened in 1982, Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. 

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
