 YOUR NEW ROLE  

Primarily focused on collaborating with business stakeholders and designing systems, which account for approximately 70% of efforts. The remaining 30% involved implementation, team mentoring, and system reviews.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and goals, ensuring alignment with technical strategies.
• Develop and implement comprehensive technical solutions that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective. This often involves designing cloud architectures, microservices, or event-driven systems
• Assess existing systems, recommend new technologies, and oversee the integration of tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Create clear and detailed documentation for architectural designs, including flow diagrams, technical specifications, and deployment processes.
• Act as a bridge between business teams and technical teams, ensuring all parties are aligned on project objectives and timelines.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices. This could include compliance frameworks like SOX, GDPR, or other specific regulations.
• Address technical challenges by evaluating risks and proposing effective solutions that meet organizational needs.
• Guide and mentor development teams, fostering productivity, innovation, and adherence to architectural standards

 

What You'll Bring

• 17+ Years experience in the Technology industry
• Experience in Tech Modernisation
  • Integration experience – API architecture, Kafka and Event Streaming
  • Experience with Business Architecture and domain modelling – BIAN knowledge beneficial
• Experience and demonstration of agile practices.
• Solutioning experience with both packaged and custom build software as well as third party vendors and partners.
• Experience with collaborating to achieve outcomes across business, project and technical teams.
• Technology or science-related degree
• Engineering certification (preferable)
  • AWS or Azure certification (preferable)
  • Stakeholder management
• Excellent Communication and influencing skills and ability to drive solutions in complex and conflicting priorities

Accountabilities & Key functions

• Develop and set the technology strategy for their area across Functional (business) as well as technical direction
• Makes decisions on how architectural standards, patterns and guidelines are applied for a business outcome (i.e. ensures they are applied)
• Provides transparency and visibility of technical debt
• Provides technical direction and leadership for the business outcomes, across the technology lifecycle, maintaining the target state and pathway, informing the backlog and sequencing
• A domain architect works closely with domain team leadership and lead engineers, solution designers, and others, to improve change delivery approaches that will adopt and exploit architectural standards and patterns
• Deep engagement with Business stakeholders to understand strategic business needs
• Deep engagement with Technology stakeholders to understand technology, delivery and operational constraints and needs
• Development of specific solution options analysis, build vs buy,
• Development of a future state roadmap - Development of Domain roadmaps, aligned to key Business (functional) and technical strategy and direction - Alignment of direction to: - Business strategy - Technology strategy
• Feature identification and prioritisation support from service-led demand - Service feature backlog grooming into designs across epics and stories as suited for delivery
• Maintenance of a cohesive service boundary and API set for the service. Complexity of the role comes from the required technical depth and breadth needed - from the strategic direction of the service to frame target state, through to the application of architectural standards, patterns and guidelines during design and development. Different services have different levels of complexity determined by the number of service applications and components the amount of investment flowing to the service, and the progress towards target state.
• Key people to influence include technical leadership; domain leadership; business capability leads / sponsors; initiative architects; initiative owners; initiative delivery owners

 

Qualification Requirements

Tertiary qualification in technology related degree
