Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for its Advanced Distribution Planning System (ADPS) platform, based in Pune, India. At Eaton, we are committed to making work exciting, engaging, and meaningful while fostering a culture of safety, wellness, inclusion, and diversity.
As part of a multidisciplinary development team, the Lead Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and evolution of the next generation of Eaton’s cloud-native ADPS platform used for the analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energy systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in C#, .NET, Azure Cloud, microservices, and SaaS platform development. The role requires a strong technical leader who can drive architecture-level decisions while remaining hands-on in the design and implementation of scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performance platform solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate architectural thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation across the software development lifecycle.
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of core ADPS platform services using modern C# and .NET.
- Lead the design and development of cloud-native ADPS solutions leveraging C++, .NET, Azure, and AKS technologies.
- Drive end-to-end solution delivery, including platform architecture, backend services, engine integration, performance optimization, and scalable cloud deployment.
- Analyze product requirements, technical specifications, and engineering use cases to define scalable and secure solutions.
- Own the technical direction of assigned platform components, services, and integration interfaces.
- Design reusable frameworks, shared services, common platform capabilities, and well-defined application programming interfaces.
- Drive architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering decisions across product teams.
- Design distributed, cloud-native, and multi-tenant solutions with appropriate resiliency, security, observability, and performance.
- Remain hands-on by developing critical components, resolving complex technical issues, and creating technical prototypes.
- Review pull requests and ensure adherence to coding standards, design patterns, SOLID principles, and secure development practices.
- Define and improve unit testing, code coverage, automated quality checks, and continuous integration and delivery practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, User Interface, Engine, Quality Assurance, DevOps, cybersecurity, and architecture teams.
- Support effort estimation, release planning, dependency management, technical risk assessment, and delivery execution.
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, maintainability, deployment efficiency, monitoring, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Drive platform modernization, cloud adoption, performance optimization, technical-debt reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and development tools, including artificial intelligence-assisted engineering solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Prepare and maintain architecture decisions, design specifications, interface documentation, deployment guidance, and operational documentation.
