Description
Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Rolls-Royce SMR provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, leading the way in Small Modular Reactor technology and shaping the UK’s premier green export opportunity.
Our Operations & Supply Chain function plays a critical role in delivering our first-of-a-kind SMR and future global fleet. Logistics is central to this, ensuring the safe, efficient and predictable movement of materials across factories, construction sites and customer locations worldwide.
In this context, we’re looking for a Senior Logistics Operations Manager to lead the strategic management, governance, and performance of our global logistics partners, ensuring our end-to-end logistics execution aligns with business objectives, cost targets and service levels across multiple geographies. Reporting into our Head of Logistics Operations, you’ll be the key interface between internal stakeholders and external logistics partners, driving continuous innovation, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation
What you’ll do:
Leading an indirect headcount of c.30, initially, you will develop and execute logistics partners strategies with our global 3PL/4PL network and local transport partners. This will include:
The development and execution of logistics partners strategies, including regional requirements and operational resilience
Delivering a contracted and governed logistics partner ecosystem, with measurable service-level compliance and recovery protocols
Responsibility for the development and management of performance dashboards tracking cost, HSE, vehicle status, and environmental KPIs
Managing logistics budgets and cost models with the delivery of cost reduction and value engineering initiatives, without compromising service
You’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
Deep understanding of multimodal freight, 3PL/4PL ecosystems, and ERP-based performance reporting with a focus on Service Excellence and Continuous Innovative solutions
Hands-on experience of strategically managing global logistics providers or freight forwarders across UK & Europe
And if you can bring experience in construction, manufacturing, energy, or nuclear/aerospace environments and CIPS, PMP or MCILT, this has to be a role you should consider! If interested, a full role profile is available from Alex Jordan (I’m easy to find on LinkedIn).
