Finning is growing fast—and so are the opportunities!We are currently looking for dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentices who will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar products in a service oriented environment.
This position is based out of our Fort McKay Shop facility and will work a 14x14 continuous shift rotation. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and looking to complete your Heavy Equipment Technician certification then you are exactly who we are looking for!
Job Description:
Basic Functions:
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing of equipment, following all safety requirements in a high paced, service oriented environment
- Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
- Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
- Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
- Engage in other related duties as needed to support team objectives and customer commitments
Qualifications:
- Willing to work towards Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
- Successfully meet Finning’s educational and testing prerequisites. This includes: completion of grade 12 (not including a general equivalent diploma)
- Meet the requirements of article 5.02 of the Alberta Collective Agreement
- Highly motivated, safety focused, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn, ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Previous Caterpillar mining equipment experience and basic computer skills
- Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of heavy equipment parts and repairs.
Note:
- This position is based at our Fort McKay Shop facility on a 14x14 continuous shift rotation (B shift)
- Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
- You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted
