Description

Vice President of Business Development

Location: New York City / New York Tri-State Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work setup: Hybrid (in office/remote) with occasional business travel.

Uncapped Sales Commission Opportunity

Are you motivated by the opportunity to directly influence your earnings through uncapped sales commissions? If you're an experienced enterprise sales professional who knows how to create opportunities, open doors with senior executives, and close complex, high-value deals, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

About the Role

SPS is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to drive new business growth across the New York City and Tri-State market. This is a high-impact, quota-carrying, hunter-focused enterprise sales role responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new client relationships with large organizations, including Fortune 500 companies.

The VP of Business Development will own the full sales process from identifying target accounts and generating the initial opportunity through executive engagement, discovery, solution development, proposal strategy, negotiation, and closing. This individual will be expected to build their own pipeline and create demand, rather than relying primarily on inbound leads or established accounts.

You will sell SPS's broad portfolio of Enterprise Workplace Solutions, combining people, processes, technology, and AI-enabled capabilities to help organizations improve workplace operations, employee experience, productivity, efficiency, and business continuity.

What You'll Do

Drive New Enterprise Business

  • Develop and execute a territory strategy focused on acquiring net-new enterprise clients throughout New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, and strategic Northeast accounts.

  • Develop and maintain a targeted list of high-value enterprise and Fortune 500 prospects.

  • Own the complete sales cycle, including target-account selection, prospecting, executive outreach, discovery, qualification, solution development, presentations, proposals, pricing, negotiation, contracting, and closing.

  • Consistently meet or exceed new-logo bookings, revenue, gross margin, pipeline coverage, and other sales targets.

  • Create demand for SPS solutions before a formal RFP exists by identifying business challenges and proactively presenting solutions.

  • Build a consistent, qualified, self-generated pipeline through disciplined outbound prospecting and account-based selling.

Build Executive-Level Relationships

  • Establish and develop relationships with C-suite and senior executives, including CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, CTOs, Chief Procurement Officers, Chief Administrative Officers, General Counsel, Corporate Real Estate leaders, Workplace and Facilities executives, and Operations leaders.

  • Navigate complex enterprise buying committees involving procurement, finance, operations, workplace, corporate real estate, facilities, technology, information security, legal, risk, compliance, HR, and business-unit leadership.

  • Develop trusted-advisor relationships by understanding each organization's business priorities and connecting SPS solutions to measurable outcomes.

  • Expand relationships across multiple stakeholders within target organizations to build organizational alignment and increase the likelihood of winning complex opportunities.

Generate Your Own Pipeline

  • Proactively generate qualified opportunities through cold calling, outbound email, LinkedIn, social selling, executive networking, referrals, strategic partnerships, industry associations, conferences, trade shows, and executive events.

  • Use account research and market intelligence to identify buying triggers such as office moves, mergers and acquisitions, contract expirations, return-to-office initiatives, cost-transformation programs, technology modernization, and workplace-experience priorities.

  • Leverage LinkedIn and other professional networks to identify decision-makers, monitor account activity, engage prospects, and create executive conversations.

  • Demonstrate a repeatable ability to turn prospecting activity into executive meetings, qualified opportunities, RFP invitations, and signed new-logo business.

Execute Account-Based Sales Strategies

  • Develop detailed account plans for priority enterprise prospects, including business priorities, buying triggers, stakeholder maps, executive personas, competitive intelligence, entry points, value propositions, and outreach strategies.

  • Partner with Marketing on targeted account-based campaigns, executive briefings, thought-leadership initiatives, events, webinars, and personalized outreach.

  • Use a consultative approach to uncover business challenges and position SPS solutions around outcomes such as cost optimization, productivity, employee experience, operational efficiency, service consistency, information flow, scalability, compliance, and business resilience.

  • Build relationships across complex organizations rather than relying on a single point of contact.

Sell Complex, Integrated Solutions

  • Position SPS as a strategic workplace-services, business-process, and technology partner, rather than simply a provider of individual workplace or staffing services.

  • Lead executive discovery meetings, solution workshops, workplace assessments, business-case development, presentations, and proposal discussions.

  • Sell integrated solutions that may include:

    • Workplace experience and office operations

    • Physical and digital mailroom services

    • Office logistics

    • Print, shipping, and receiving

    • Scanning, records, and document management

    • Reception, concierge, and hospitality services

    • Visitor management

    • Workplace technology

    • Smart lockers and workplace booking solutions

    • Workflow automation

    • Business process outsourcing

    • Technology-enabled business support

  • Translate SPS's capabilities into clear business value and measurable outcomes for each client.

Lead Technology-Enabled Sales Conversations

  • Maintain a strong understanding of AI, generative AI, intelligent automation, robotic process automation, intelligent document processing, digital mailroom, workflow automation, workplace technology, analytics, and enterprise data solutions.

  • Clearly communicate how technology and AI-enabled solutions can improve workflows, productivity, service delivery, information management, and operational efficiency.

  • Engage technology, operations, transformation, security, and executive stakeholders in credible discussions around modernization and technology-enabled workplace solutions.

  • Understand and communicate the importance of privacy, data security, governance, human oversight, and auditability when discussing AI-enabled services.

Lead Complex Enterprise Deals

  • Lead sophisticated enterprise pursuits involving RFPs, RFIs, competitive evaluations, pricing, financial modeling, negotiations, contracting, legal review, procurement, security assessments, and executive approvals.

  • Develop client-specific business cases and value propositions that balance financial outcomes, service quality, operational requirements, technology needs, implementation considerations, risk, and long-term value.

  • Coordinate internal teams across solution design, operations, technology, finance, legal, pricing, transition, and implementation to develop commercially viable and operationally deliverable solutions.

  • Maintain accurate CRM data, opportunity plans, forecasts, stakeholder maps, and close plans.

  • Remain engaged through the early stages of implementation to support a successful transition and ensure the solution sold aligns with the client's expectations.

What We're Looking For

  • 10–15 years of enterprise B2B sales, business development, solution sales, strategic account acquisition, or consultative selling experience.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success in a quota-carrying, net-new business development / enterprise hunter role.

  • A proven track record of personally generating pipeline and winning new-logo enterprise business.

  • Experience selling complex, multi-year, multi-site managed-services, outsourcing, workplace-services, technology-services, or professional-services solutions.

  • Demonstrated success converting cold or lightly engaged prospects into executive meetings, qualified opportunities, formal evaluations, RFPs, and closed business.

  • Strong prospecting discipline and comfort initiating conversations with C-suite and senior business leaders.

  • Experience navigating complex enterprise buying committees and lengthy sales cycles.

  • Strong consultative selling, discovery, negotiation, presentation, proposal development, and commercial-management skills.

  • Experience developing and executing named-account and account-based sales strategies.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise sales processes, procurement, contracting, pricing, and negotiations.

  • Ability to communicate technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions in practical business terms.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a comparable CRM and sales-engagement/pipeline-management tools.

  • Must reside in and regularly travel throughout the New York City / Tri-State market.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following industries or solution areas is highly valued:

  • Technology services

  • Digital transformation

  • Workflow or intelligent automation

  • Enterprise software

  • Professional services

Experience selling to banking, financial services, insurance, legal, technology, professional services, and Fortune 500 organizations is strongly preferred.

An established network of senior decision-makers across financial services, banking, insurance, legal, technology, corporate real estate, workplace, facilities, procurement, shared services, or professional services is a significant plus.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout an office and client environments as needed.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and perform repetitive keyboard and mouse movements.
