Description
Practice Accountant
Fully Remote | £27,000 – £30,000 DOE | Permanent, Full-time
Are you an experienced Practice Accountant looking for a genuinely flexible, remote role where you're trusted to manage your own workload?
Castle Employment are working with an established accountancy practice looking to recruit a Practice Accountant to join their growing accounts team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid accountancy practice experience who is confident preparing and progressing year-end accounts independently and is looking for a role offering plenty of autonomy.
You'll work closely with an experienced Senior Accountant who is also based remotely in Leeds, becoming an important part of the wider accounts team while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.
What you'll be doing
The role will initially be predominantly focused on accounts production and year-end work, including:
-
Preparing year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
-
Progressing accounts jobs through to review stage
-
Managing your own allocated workload against internal deadlines
-
Producing accounts to a high standard ready for senior review
-
Identifying and raising queries where required
-
Keeping jobs moving to ensure monthly and internal targets are achieved
-
Working closely with a Senior Accountant and the wider accounts team
-
Managing your workload independently and effectively from home
This isn't a bookkeeping or VAT-focused position – the initial focus is very much on accounts preparation and progressing year-end jobs.
What we're looking for
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
We're looking for someone who:
-
Has solid experience preparing year-end accounts within practice
-
Can confidently pull a set of accounts together without extensive supervision
-
Is comfortable managing their own workload and deadlines
-
Can work independently and effectively from home
-
Is confident communicating queries and knowing when to ask for support
-
Is organised, self-motivated and able to keep work progressing
-
Has an easy-going, collaborative approach and enjoys being part of a team
Qualifications aren't everything for this opportunity. You could be AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience – practical experience and your ability to do the job are more important.
Remote working
This role can be fully remote, with no set weekly office attendance requirement.
Ideally, you'll be based around Leeds, York or the wider Yorkshire area, as there will be opportunities to meet and work alongside colleagues in person from time to time. This could include occasional days working together in Leeds or visiting the wider team at their Hull office.
You may also spend some time at the Hull office when you first join to meet the team and get settled as part of your onboarding.
The practice has experience of successfully managing remote team members and offers a trusting environment where you're given the autonomy to manage your day and get on with your work.
What's on offer?
-
£27,000 – £30,000, depending on experience
-
Fully remote working
-

Why join?
If you're looking to move away from a more traditional practice environment, this opportunity offers something a little different.
You'll have the freedom of working remotely without losing the support of an experienced team. The culture is relaxed, sociable and trusting, with a focus on getting the work done rather than unnecessary micromanagement.
The Partners and senior team encourage flexibility and independence, while still making an effort to bring the wider team together through regular social events and opportunities to meet in person.
There's also flexibility around professional development. If you're currently completing AAT or would like to continue further professional studies, study support could potentially be incorporated into your package.
Interested?
If you have accountancy practice experience, are confident preparing year-end accounts and want a remote role offering genuine flexibility and autonomy, we'd love to hear from you.
