Job Description

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Residential Shelters. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support residents, staff, and visitors with outstanding customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting relevant details and communicating with site contacts and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, common areas, entry points, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location by observing entrances and exits, verifying authorized access when required, and reporting suspicious behavior, policy violations, and/or maintenance concerns.
• Support a respectful environment by providing directions, answering general questions, and assisting with de-escalation related to resident and visitor interactions in accordance with post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
