About the Position:

We are seeking motivated candidates for the position of Vehicle Title Operations Supervisor in the Titles Division. As a Vehicle Title Operations Supervisor, you’ll oversee a team of employees guiding them in providing excellent customer service to the citizens of Maine. These critical services contribute to the operational and logistical functions of the titles division. Tasks that you will oversee can include the processing of titles, surface level customer assistance like title status and general questions to managing critical, high-impact programs in areas like abandoned vehicles, fraudulent documents, investigation cases, and registration suspensions. Your leadership will not only drive operational excellence but also inspire your team to continuously improve and rise to new challenges. You will be the catalyst for change, helping your team adapt to new processes and feedback, and ensuring their success in a demanding environment.

In This Role You Will:

  • Support and guide a team of Title staff, creating a work environment where each team member feels empowered to grow, contribute, and excel in managing vehicle title-related tasks, while fostering a mindset that embraces change and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operational success by overseeing key processes, fostering a collaborative culture across multiple BMV divisions with a focus on both operational efficiency and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate on the future direction of our vehicle title programs by helping design, test, and implement initiatives that enhance service delivery, streamline processes, and ensure the team adapts to evolving needs and technologies.

Preference will be given to candidates who bring digital fluency and a process-improvement mindset: 

Comfort learning and adopting new technologies, experience streamlining or digitizing paper-based work, clear written communication, curiosity about emerging workplace tools, and the judgment to evaluate and verify their output before relying on it. 

  • Knowledge of motor vehicle law, rules, and regulations, especially in the context of title programs, registration suspensions, and other related areas.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and supporting change management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely outcomes
  • Experience with modernizing work processes and leveraging technology to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Experience in managing difficult conversations, delivering unpopular news, and solving complex problems to improve service and meet public needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience.)

Training, education, or experience in administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks at the statewide level that are broad in scope or functionally diverse, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and decision making on complex administrative matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I, Office Associate II and Office Specialist I.

The successful candidate must pass a National Criminal Background check, which may include fingerprinting.
