PURPOSE
- Key technical accounting expert for the Group
- Accounting policy SME on IFRS 9 and 17
- Key liaison for business units on technical accounting decisions
- Accounting lead for significant transactions, including but not limited business operations, M&A, investments and financing activities
- Develop and lead implementations for changes in accounting standards and enhancements in accounting applications
- Communication of key accounting decisions to executive management
KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES
Accounting and Reporting
- Maintain Group Accounting Manual and policies Develop new accounting policies and/or guidance.
- Work closely with the business units to implement changes.
- Provide technical accounting advice to business units, being a key business partner with the business units to resolve accounting issues. Accounting advice should cover accounting, business, compliance and governance related considerations.
- IFRS 9 and 17 subject matter expert for the Group
- Prepare accounting memos and board reports on key accounting matters
- Prepare and review Financial Statements disclosures, including accounting policy related disclosures
- Support general ledger and finance system design to ensure alignment with Group accounting policy Drive accounting assessment on significant transactions, including but not limited business operations, M&A, investments and financing activities
Projects and Partnerships
- Support high profile strategic projects from an accounting perspective
- Work closely with other Group functions, including Legal, Treasury, Actuarial, M&A and FP&A teams, and BUs, to deliver job responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Qualified accountant
- 12+ years practical experience, with an emphasis on technical accounting related experience
- Comprehensive knowledge in insurance and investment accounting.
- Insurance company accounting policy team background preferred
- IFRS 9 and 17 implementation experience.
- Strong analytic skills and numeric senses.
- Attention to detail, deadline-oriented with multi-tasking skills
- Ability to manage teams to deliver project goals.
- Strong communication and relationship skills with a proven ability to influence executive management.
- Proven ability to generate change in financial processes and adapt to a fast-moving environment.
